From the Club PresidentDear Members and Friends of Merrill Hills Country Club,

Welcome to the first 2011 Scorecard! The coming year is building to become a fun-filled season with exciting and memorable activities for all members and guests.

The foundation of friends sharing golf and leisure activities that was established in 1929 continued with the addition of Arnold Palmer Golf Management this past year. Growing our club membership and improving our financial operating position has been the cornerstone of our positive results. Professional Club Management coupled with adoption of our Strategic Plan are significant achievements.

Looking back at the many events in 2010, I am humbled and honored to belong to an organization where guests always feel welcomed with a sense of family and fellowship. Our success with member retention and recruitment is a testimonial to the exceptional dedication of our club members and our management team.

Looking forward to 2011, Club Directors and Club Management will plan to complete initiatives that were developed from our Strategic Plan to further improve our club and to enhance your club experience, including:

Improve member communication

Member retention and recruitment

Improve financial strength of the club

Recruit new General Manager

Launch Voluntary Improvement Program (VIP)

Develop definitive plans for the Barton Land by special sub-committee

Long-term debt reduction mapping

With members everything is possible, and our overall goal this year is to become full with a waitlist. Your continued efforts to sponsor your friends and colleagues contribute to our success. Your club will continue to offer you and your family the best value for your membership with events like the monthly Member Appreciation Mixer, which is a complimentary event for you and a perfect opportunity to show your club to family and friends. Also mark your calendars for other great showcase events such as, The Taste of Merrill Hills on March 26th and the 4th Annual Greg Jennings Celebrity Classic on June 10th.

In addition, our partnership with Arnold Palmer Golf Management provides you the Palmer Privilege Program (approximately 20-25 private clubs and 40 public and resort courses in the US) and the optional Palmer Advantage Platinum Membership with over 400 venues (Golf, Resort, Private Clubs across the US and around the World) as a further enhancement to your Merrill Hills experience. The Daddy Daughter Dance is a special evening that will

strengthen the bonds of fathers, grandpas and daughters

Live dance music will � ll the air as this elegant black-tie gathering takes over the 1st, 2nd and 6th � oors with delectable food, specialty martinis, wine and champagne. Start your evening on the � rst � oor with passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, then sit down to a formal � ve-course dinner on the 2nd � oor with deliciously paired wines. If you appreciate good wine and sampling new varieties this is the event for you. While you sample you will learn about the grapes that make the wine, the region in which those grapes are grown, and the history of the winery that produces it. Membership UpdateDear Membership,

Congratulations to the entire membership for an outstanding 2010 membership drive! We were blessed to have a great business model from Arnold Palmer Golf Management (APGM), solid direction from the previous Membership Chair, Todd Schlender and excellent follow up and execution by Linda Crawford, previous Membership Director and Kelly Ivan, our current Membership Director.

As most of you know, our goal for 2011 is to be full with a waitlist for golf, preferably in early spring. We have been very successful in adding over 100 new members in 2010 and would like to keep the momentum up into 2011. We will follow the same membership model that APGM and MHCC instituted in 2010. Essentially, it is a simple request for all members to furnish to Kelly Ivan at least three membership candidates for her to invite as prospective members. You may email or call her with your contacts kivan@merrillhills.com, 262-548-1100, x134. She will do all the follow up, provide tours of the club and gladly comp dinner for any qualified prospects.

The single most important goal for our club is to achieve waitlist status. This will allow us to further solidify our financial position and give us greater flexibility to achieve the numerous goals of the club. Every member has a responsibility and a vested interest in recruiting and retaining members in 2011. So please take a few minutes and send Kelly your member candidates. We would like to receive these no later than January 21, 2011 so we can gear up for the spring season. Thank in advance for all of your help. We’re looking forward to another record-breaking year in membership!
