Welcoming Remarks ASSOCIATE DEAN SCHOOL OF NURSING
Dear Graduates,
Welcome to this prestigious event, the first in history.
I know you graduated in July, but for nurses, graduation is never
completed unless the oath taking and lamp lighting ceremony
is concluded.
The lamp during this ceremony resembles the dedication of
Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing, when she nursed the
vulnerable and helpless during the night. May the lamp in your
hand forever reminds you of the service you pledge to render.

Closing Remarks
Dear Graduates,
It is unfortunate that you as our graduates for 2020 have to take
your oath taking virtually due to Covid – 19. The nation is looking
forward to have you in the health sector in order to mitigate
the challenges caused by Covid – 19. So as a University, we are
equally proud that you are our alumni and you must continue to
raise the bar of the University high. We expect you to conduct
yourself professionally in the community that you will serve. I
want to urge you to be courageous in the face of adversity, and
even tragedy, try to remember the reasons for optimism – and
never be afraid to ask for help. Embrace your profession with
commitment and dedication. Look after yourself – especially
your health, both physical and mental.

Graduates – and now, my fellow alumni of the University of
Namibia: Congratulations! You have worked hard. You deserve
to be proud of this achievement, and take this opportunity to
