Thank you for your continuous support of Our Lady of Mercy School and for your generous contributions to The Mercy Fund. We truly appreciate your gifts of time, talent, and treasure. These gifts enable us to continue in our mission to provide “foundations for a life of prayer, knowledge, and service.”

This year contributions to the Mercy Fund totaled just over $192,000. Your donations provided campus security, faculty professional development and classroom-based technologies for our students. We were able to continue focusing on the safety of our children by retaining law enforcement officers on campus from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm each day.

Teachers participated in continuing education and professional development opportunities at local, state, and national grade level and subject area conferences such as Model Schools, Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators, International Society for Technology in Education, Louisiana Play Therapy Conference and the Louisiana Conference for Early Childhood Education. Some teachers are participating in technology certification courses that train them to further integrate technology effectively in curriculum and instruction.

Additionally, we were able to expand our technological resources for students with the purchase of Apple TVs for Upper and Lower School classrooms, classroom sets of iPads, iMacs for the computer lab, and televisions and projectors for classrooms, the library, band and art. These donations enable us to continue in the development and implementation of our educational programs.

Through gifts of all sizes, donors to The Mercy Fund make a strong impact on the lives of Mercy students. The 2018-2019 Mercy Fund goal was $175,000 and with your support we were able to surpass that goal by raising a total of: $192,869.21. This funding is vital to our success as we implement these dollars immediately towards our greatest needs within the current school year. Each gift to The Mercy Fund is designated to either technology or the general fund and immediately im-pacts these needs within the current school year. In December 2018, we showcased through a video your dollars at work in our classrooms. New iPads made their way into all classrooms, increasing our supply and allowing for more in rotation.

THE MERCY FUND 2018-2019 The Mercy Fund is Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School’s annual giving campaign designed to provide funding for the greatest needs of the school. It is the lifeblood of Mercy, providing tangible, bottom line support to every priority area. During the 2018-2019 Mercy Fund campaign funding priorities centered around security, technology, and professional development. Our technology goal was to begin outfitting each classroom with Apple products that interact with one another, creating a profoundly immersive and responsive experience that gets students of all learning styles fully engaged in what they are doing. And what is being taught. This a long-range plan to be fulfilled over the course of five years.

General Fund In addition to technology, our General Fund provided professional development funding for teachers to attend Dyslexia Resource Training Conference to identify the signs and struggles of dyslexia. This conference outlines best practices on how to incorporate these teachings into the classroom and guide our students towards success.

Security As always, we consider security a top-priority. We are fortunate to have police officers on our campus from 7am - 6pm five days a week and because of the success of The Mercy Fund, we are able to continue this partnership. It is of utmost importance that our campus remains safe and secure; we remain grateful to the officers who protect our campus and to our families who make this possible by supporting The Mercy Fund.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS Throughout the year Mercy hosts school-wide events that are an extension of The Mercy Fund which helps to provide additional funding for unexpected needs. At Mercy, we believe events are an opportunity to come together in celebration of our school while concurrently supplying additional help with expenses associated with campus maintenance, such as: cleaning, landscape upkeep, routine maintenance and unexpected repairs. Thank you for making this year’s Mercy events so successful; we look forward to a new school year and making new Mercy memories!

WINE WALK Mercy families enjoy a beautiful evening walking from one home to another sampling food and wine, listening to music and conversing with friends. We are so grateful to all of the Mercy families who have offered to open their homes for this special night. This event is held every year in the fall and is a great way to visit with old friends and make new ones. Tickets are purchased online. Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming 2019 wine walk!

AUCTION CLASSIC Mercy’s Auction Classic is a fundraiser consisting of both a live and silent auction. This fundraiser is a social event that includes bidding on various items, listening to great music, enjoying great food, all while supporting our school. This year the event was held once again at Phil Witter’s Live Oak Arabians horse farm on Jefferson Highway. This unique location has provided an abundance of space and a stellar scenic view. We thank Phil for allowing us to celebrate at the farm for the past two years, and we thank Mercy families for their continuous support of this event. More details on the 2020 event to be revealed in early Fall.

MERCY FAIR The annual Mercy Fair is always one of the most highly anticipated events of the year! Families look forward to spending a beautiful weekend among friends and family as they enjoy good food, dance to exceptional bands, fly through the air on splendid rides, play games, and share in the success of completing yet another school year. It is truly a magical weekend!
