NCEA AWARDSFr. Cleo Milano, pastor from our Lady of Mercy Church and School, in the Diocese of Baton Rouge, will receive the 2019 Lead. Learn. Proclaim (LLP) Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) for dedication and commitment to excellence in Catholic education.
Father Cleo was chosen from more than 150,000 teachers and administrators, as well as diocesan leaders and organizations dedicated to the nation's Catholic schools. Father Cleo will be recognized during the annual NCEA 2019 Convention & Expo that will take place April 23 - 25 in Chicago. The annual award honors those whose ministry is Catholic school education and who have demonstrated a strong Catholic educational philosophy as well as exceptional efforts, dedication and achievements.
"The LLP award is a celebration of all that is good in Catholic schools. Our awardees are those individuals whose dedication, commitment, enthusiasm and care help to build dynamic communities where students are challenged and inspired to explore, to enjoy and to reach their potential as young people of faith and endless possibilities," said Dr. Barbara McGraw Edmondson, NCEA Chief Leadership and Program Officer.
In his nomination packet, Fr. Cleo is described in one comment: "Fr. Cleo's zeal for Catholic education and the formation of all the families entrusted to his care are what energize him daily."

SPECIAL GIFTS FOR THE LITURGY Parishioners and friends often ask if the Church is in need of anything, especially if that something is directly at the service of the sacred liturgy. Special thanks to Ms. Monica Callier who donated a new red cope in memory of her mother, Cuba Lee Furrate to be used during special liturgical celebrations.

PARISH LIFE
GET TO KNOW OUR NEWEST MEMBERS OF THE FAITHWe asked our RCIA candidates to tell us a little bit about themselves and what led them to the Catholic Church.
Here are their answers:
PAUL BAILEY
I was born in Savannah, Georgia and moved to West Baton Rouge Parish shortly after I was born. I am a graduate of LSU with a degree in Computer Science. I work for the State in the Division of Administration. I am married to Lisa Prater-Bailey and we have two children who attend OLOM School - Emily in 8th grade and Benjamin in 6th grade.
I decided to enter the Catholic Church because a calling to the Church has always been in the distance but has recently moved to the forefront of my life. After my children completed RCIC last year, and seeing their love for God and Church, helped me to reflect on my own life. The time just felt right for me.
MORGAN COUVILLION
My name is Morgan Couvillion and I am the mother to my son Dylan. I love OLOM Church and the people that make RCIA classes and the community of OLOM home to me. I love spending time with family and friends and learning new and exciting things about life and watching my son learn new words and watching his facial expressions.
I had been thinking about entering the Catholic Church for about 10 years. Once my son was born, it became more of a push to get me into gear to have one faith where I could see my future.
Many thanks to all who have touched my life through RCIA!
COURTNEY DONATTO
I am a Baton Rouge native, a Registered Pediatric Nurse, a mom to 3 fur babies, and a marathon runner and triathlete.
I was baptized Methodist but attended Catholic Schools. I have always loved my Catholic Education and strong pull toward the Church.
DAVID ROBINS
I grew up in Baker, graduated from Baker High School and a graduate of Southern University with a degree in Civil Engineering. I have been employed with DOTD for 3 years and have worked at ECM Consultants for 6 years.
My father encouraged me to learn more about the Catholic faith after he completed RCIA last year.
AUSTIN SANCHEZ
I am a peaceful young man who works long hours to provide for his family. I spend my free time with my family and friends outdoors.
I decided to enter the Catholic Church because I felt a void in my life that needed to be filled by something bigger than myself or anything found on this earth.
SHANE GUILBEAU
I am a Baton Rouge native, attended St. Gerard and Redemptorist High School, happily married for 21 years, father of a beautiful daughter, I am a humble Civil Servant, and purveyor of a yolo lifestyle.
Based on my childhood and Catholic education, I have always been drawn to the Catholic faith.

HELP OUR USHERS Please be so kind as to assist our ushers at the time of the offertory and the passing of the collection. Please take the basket from the usher and after placing your offering, kindly pass the basket to your neighbor. Our offering is part of our gift to God in return for His goodness. What we give or do not give affects the life of our parish. In this season of Easter Almsgiving, thank you for your renewed financial commitment to the support of our parish. Mercy serves so many and your generosity makes all we do possible. May God who is never outdone in gen-erosity bless you abundantly. If you would like to assist in the passing of the collection, please identify yourself to the head usher before Mass.

REMEMBER YOU ARE DUST UNTO DUST YOU
SHALL RETURN
Parishioners will remember that during the period of Master Planning for our future, there was a strong interest in a Columbarium Garden for the interment of cremains. We have now begun offering columbarium spaces for pre-construction sale.
Columbarium spaces are priced at $5000 for simple cremain boxes for two people and at $7500 for columbarium spaces for Urns for two people. Please know this pre-construction cost is a great savings. You may call Ms. Deanie Smith to make your personal appointment.
You may take a virtual tour of the proposed Columbarium Garden on the Mercy website (www.olomchurch.com). Design of the project has been done by parishioner, Pete Newton Landscaping and the contractor selected is Arkel Construction.
Construction starts soon!
