THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMASThe Feast of the Epiphany, traditionally recognized on January 6, is the day that the Magi or Three Wise Men visited the Christ Child and marks the end of the holiday season, thus bringing a close to the Twelve Days of Christmas.The well-known English Carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” was written during the era when Roman Catholics were not permitted to practice their faith openly in England. The carol was intended as a catechism song for young Catholics exposing an element of hidden meaning or a code word easily recognizable by children.The “true love” one hears in the song is not a smitten love between a boyfriend and girlfriend, but Jesus Christ, because true Love was born on Christmas Day. The partridge in the pear tree also represents Jesus because the bird is willing to sacrifice its life if necessary to protect its young by feigning injury to draw away predators. Men of Immaculata Men’s Conference Saturday, March 9th St. George Catholic Church

MEN of MERCY prepare for your life to be changed! A Call to Battle: Catholic Men's Conference presented by Men of Immaculata, is held annually in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the first Saturday of Lent. This conference draws over a thousand men from across the Gulf Coast to experience a day of prayer, worship, world-reknown Catholic speakers and fellowship.

ACTS RETREAT While utilizing prayer, service, and teaching, the ACTS Retreat meets people where they are in their spiritual journey and invites them to experience God in a manner that is both personal and communal.

Throughout the weekend, participants are invited to prayerfully consider how they can respond to God’s love by spiritually surrendering to Jesus in order to have new life with Him. This invitation is extended through the pillars of the apostolate: Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service.

This experience is an opportunity for spiritual renewal and the making of many friends. Fr. Cleo invites you to prayerfully consider joining a group of men/women from our parish to make this spiritual retreat at The Solomon Center in Loranger, Louisiana. The cost of the retreat is $255 per double occupancy room for Mercy parishioners and $330 for non-parishioners.

Men’s Retreat - departs Our Lady of Mercy on Thursday, March 14th and returns for noon Mass at Mercy on Sunday, March 17th.

In this Holy Season of the Savior’s birth, I cannot think of a more beautiful and holy place to worship our Lord Jesus Christ than here at Our Lady of Mercy. Our parish provides tremendous opportunities to celebrate the Sacraments of Holy Mass and Confession.

Our strong witness to the power of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Chapel, and our commitment to St. Vincent de Paul and our outreach to the poor and needy, truly are a bright light in a world that can seem very dark.

Our Lady of Mercy functions not only as a vibrant and active church family but also as a shrine for the City of Baton Rouge and our Diocese.
