Message from the Lay Director
They will know we are Christians by our love. We will work, walk, pray, sing and play together, re-joicing in the unconditional love of God. We will reach out to all others in that love. In this manner, we will attract many people who will want what we have. This is the beauty and simplicity of the Cur-sillo message. I leave you with one other simple yet profound thought: Make a Friend, Be a Friend and Bring that Friend to Christ
Love and De Colores,
Nancy
Message from the
School of Leaders
Can you believe that summer is almost over?
The cold and snowy winter seemed to last forever,
but summer just whizzed by. I hope and pray that
you found time for rest and refreshment!
The School of Leaders will resume on Thursday,
September 3rd. I urge all Cursillistas to seriously
consider joining us as often as possible at the
School. The term ‘school’ might be a little threat-
ening to some, but look at it as you would a school
of fish swimming together to reach a goal!
Most months we will meet the first Thursday of
each month at St. Edward’s parish in Clifton Park.
Please note during January, February and March
we will meet the first Wednesday. There will be a
sign on the door indicating what rooms we will be
using this year. Please enter via the main church
entrance (through the Gathering Space) rather than
the back door we have been using.
I look forward to another fruitful year as we con-
tinue to learn and share! This year, Sr. Monica will
be focusing on the Prophets. We will continue to
use Whom Shall I Send, as an impetus to discus-
sion and sharing.
De Colores,
Tom

The S P O N S 0 R S Responsibilities
The following has been excerpted from the Sponsor’s Booklet put out by the National Cursillo Center. “The purpose of sponsoring is to prepare a person or persons who can bring about a change in their environments. You should have a plan on how you are going to do this. Part of your plan would include identifying those individuals with the talents to bring about change; to bring Jesus Christ into their environments.” “Sponsoring is not a haphazard circumstance.. . A sponsor should know the candidates very well...” “Your candidates will become the agents of change in their families, work situations, neighbor-hoods, social gatherings, etc. “ “Being a sponsor is committing one’s self to the selection and preparation of a person for the Cur-sillo, and ongoing assistance to that person in the Postcursillo.” As part of this a sponsor should help the person they sponsor find a small group and bring them to Ultreya. This follow-up should be dis-cussed with candidates before they make a weekend. Remember to Make a Friend, Be a Friend, Bring your Friend to Christ (or to a better relationship with Christ). Always “remember to speak to God about the person before speaking to the person about God.” “It can be said that our Postcursillo will only be as good as our Precursillo. So candidate prepara-tion is an absolute necessity!

Over thirty Cursillistas and guests at-tended the Day of Reflection at the Pyra-mid Life Center May 30th. The afternoon retreat was facilitated by Claire Bradley, a licensed counselor and speaker. The calm waters of the Adirondack lake, the breez-es through the trees, and the singing of the birds made it the perfect place to re-flect on the topic of Listening. We dis-cussed listening not just to hear, but as a sacred experience between souls. In re-flecting on our own listening habits, we discovered the barriers to listening well and how to prepare to be a better listener.
Many chose to stay for dinner and over-night in the lodge and although a rain storm dampened the evening campfire, we enjoyed conversation and practicing our new ‘listening’ skills with one another. Photo by Eva Pearce
The Commissioning Mass for Women's Weekend #58 and Men's Weekend #52 was held on June 27th at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. Father Pat Butler presided and reminded the weekend teams along with the supporting Cursillo community present, to live the gospel faith from our hearts and that our claim to be Christian must be one that is authentic. Team members were warmly greeted by Linda Molloy and Mike Beehner, Rectora and Rector for the upcoming weekends.
That afternoon, we gathered at the Cross-ing in Colonie for the Annual Cursillo Picnic. We all enjoyed good weather, excellent food, games of bocce ball and warm friendship. Thank you to all who contributed to make these two events such a success.
