Making Good Use of Your Summer “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us

encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

Summer is upon us. Or, should I say, busy-ness is upon us! Amid our frantic efforts to enjoy the beautiful Kentucky weather, one unfortunate casualty of our increased activity is a decreased investment in our life together. While there is more light to be enjoyed and more time to be filled, we often make our church family less of a priority, albeit unintentionally, but nevertheless an unintended consequence to the craziness of summer. My friends, this should not be so. The above passage from Hebrews reminds us to not give up, not to abandon, not to neglect the important habit of being together. The writer, and most certainly God, knows the priceless value of being with others. It is as we are with others we gain and offer support. While with others we share and learn and grow. With others we are able to know others and so strengthen community. With others we are enabled to become more like Christ. Much conversation and concern has lamentably by given to the breakdown of community in our society. There is an eroding of the first community, the family. Then, as we are increasing without fellowship with others neighborhoods and cities begin to deteriorate. As people gather together less and less, the church ceases to be a relevant or vital part of the community. Eventually, as we are less and less with others there are less and less others to be with. The healthy and vitality of a community, any community, hinges on the togetherness of that community's individuals. Not only does Trinity need you, but you need Trinity. Mind you, God knows a thing or two about this idea of “with”. The title given to Jesus Christ through the prophet Isaiah was Immanuel, which means “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23). John stated the importance of Jesus Christ becoming human this way: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among (with) us.” (John 1:14) One of Jesus’ final promises to His disciples (and to us) was that he would be with us to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20) We can count on God being for us because He is always with us! Summer is a time for recreation and for rest. But in our recreation and rest let us not loose our regard for being with one another.

May God be with you as we are with each other! Pastor Steve

Sweet, sweet Summertime- The Chancel Choir and the Adult Bell Choir will be taking a little time off this summer. Adult Bells will resume rehearsals on Wednesday evenings beginning August 19th. There has been some discussion regarding a change in our rehearsal time and that will be decided over the summer. Chancel Choir will take the month of July off with rehearsals resuming on Wednesday night August 5th. Hymns: Summer is a wonderful time to feature great hymns of our faith. Please submit your favorite hymns by either placing a note in the collection plate, putting a note in my mailbox at Trinity (Melissa Weaver) or just mention your favorites to me or Shelley. We will do our very best to sing a verse or 2 of your chosen hymns during the summer months. Your favorite hymn does not have to be in our current hymnal. We have many musical resources where we can find it. Men of Trinity please remember to come the choir room on Wednesday night June 10th at 7:00pm to rehearse with the chancel choir men. We will welcome you and make you feel very comfortable. The music is not difficult and you will be a wonderful addition to our Men's Choir for Sunday morning June 14th.

Tpc night at Louisville bats. . .

Again this year, TPC is organizing a group outing to a Louisville Bats baseball game. The selected date is Saturday, August 15th and the opponent will be Norfolk which is a farm team of the Baltimore Orioles. The game is scheduled to start at 6:05PM. The seats that we have obtained are along the third base line and will be protected from the sun and will be under cover if it does rain. Tickets are $11.00 each. There is a sign up sheet on the Fellowship board in the hallway.

We would like you to sign up as soon as you have made a decision so that to the extent we need addi-tional tickets we can secure them in the same area as those we have currently reserved. Payment should be made by check payable to Larry Hartmann or cash and should be given to Deanna.

The Knox Choir is comprised of youth in grades 7 through 12 and is one of eight choirs of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dayton, Ohio. This summer the group is embarking on a six-day concert tour. In addition to presenting concerts in churches, the group will be exploring local points of interest in Indianapolis, St. Louis, Nashville and Louisville. A wide variety of music will be sung, including works by Pachelbel, Handel and William Boyce, as well as music from the gospel tradition, and songs from around the globe. Trinity will host the choir’s concert on Friday, June 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. We invite all to attend this evening of beautiful music and fellowship.

As promised, the All-Church Birthday Lunch put on by TPW on May 17th was an event to remember! The tables were festively decorated in many colors, and the simple lunch was very tasty! A presentation was given explaining the current missions of TPW, including a section given by Sandra Hollensead about a community in Pala Village, Guatemala. Sew ‘n Sews offered seasonal gifts for sale in addition to lovely hand-woven cotton scarves made by the ladies in Pala Village. Thank you for those of you that were able to attend, and for your generous contributions in the form of funds, prayers and moral support! We recognize how fortunate we are here in our community, and it is with delight that we, in turn, attempt to aid, support, comfort women and children in other places facing seriously dramatic challenges. May the Lord bless those that receive help by virtue of our gifts, and bless those of us that can give. The event would not have taken place without a dedicated committee. Please thank the following women when you see them next: Glenna Ogle, Kay Nolan, Brenda Miller, Lynne Wood, Sandy Koukola and Sandra Hollensead. A HUGE thanks goes to Bob and Camille Williams-Neal, Steve Kratt, Betty Wilborn and Dennis Miller who jumped in to help wash dishes and put away tables and chairs. And we wouldn’t have had such a delightful time without the lovely birthday cakes made by the following ladies. Each cake was incredibly delicious! Because of your generosity, TPW Board has allocated funds to the following organizations: Dress for Success Maryhurst Heifer Int’l Supplies Over Seas Eastern Area Community Ministries: Food Pantry & General Fund In other news, a committee working with Pastor Steve will be reviewing different Bible study resources for use in Circle for the next school year. Look for additional information in future Trinity Times and/or Sunday bulletins. Our study of 2 Corinthians has concluded in time for summer break.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Galatians 5:13

Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.

Psalm 30:2-4
