Space Applications Centre(ISRO) and M/s. TerraForm Global India Pvt. Ltd. signed an agreement regarding supply of solar insolation data to M/s. TerraForm Global India Pvt. Ltd. from MOSDAC website of SAC/ISRO.

TerraForm Global India Private Limited group owns and operates renewable energy power plants across the globe. It indirectly owns a portfolio of more than approx. 200 MW solar assets and approx. 100MW of wind assets in India.

MOSDAC i.e. Meteorological & Oceanographic Satellite Data Archival Centre, archives satellite and other data meteorological and oceanographic data. In order to popularise the indigenous satellite data, ISRO provides access to data available on MOSDAC.

The solar insolation data from MOSDAC is used for (1) Site selection for solar power plant (2) The daily solar insolation data is fed in the power generation model to forecast power generation (3) It can be used along with 3-D model of cities for estimation rooftop power potential.
