I’d like to thank everyone for all their help with Poppies and also the Legionnaires, Auxiliary and Sons were there for us. Officers for 2013 - 2014 are: President Linda Jackson 1st Vice Donna Lyons 2nd Vice Bonnie Koehle Secretary Lori Squires Treasurer Janice Fox Chaplain Dee Smith Historian Janet Bell Parliamentarian Sandy Crain Sgt at Arms Patricia Solitto Congratulations to all! And thank you for all the great work the 2012-2013 Officers did. June 14th is Flag Day - Here is a poem about the flag… Before me flies a beauteous flag… the old red, white and blue… I pledge allegiance to that flag… and to it I’ll be true… respected by the multitudes… scorned by a few lost souls… protesters who have gone stray… seeking unattainable goals… but under this flag they can strive… for what they think is right. The old flag stands for freedom… and for it all must fight… I refer to the flag as old… in reality it’s young… for it are still unsung… men died and still are dying… they truly are the brave… giving their last full measure… just so the flag can wave. So when you have a bone to pick… and life become a drag… pray for needed faith and strength… don’t blame it on the flag. Thanks to all our Veterans! Linda Jackson - Aux Pres. - For God & Country

DD-214's are NOW On-line. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following web site for veterans to gain ac-cess to their DD-214's on-line: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/ This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214 for employment purposes. NPRC is working to make it easier for veterans with comput-ers and Internet access to obtain copies of documents from their military files. Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased for-mer military members may now use a new online mili-tary personnel records system to request documents. Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be down-loaded from the on-line web site. Because the requester will be asked to supply all information essential for NPRC to process the request, delays that normally oc-cur when NPRC has to ask veterans for additional in-formation will be minimized. The new web-based appli-cation was designed to provide better service on these requests by eliminating the records center mail room and processing time.

Greetings fellow Legion members, It is hard to believe that we are in May and the weather is still reminding us of fall rather than summer. I would like to welcome some new members to the Riders, Rick Wilcox, Roger Stevens and Cameron Keyes, welcome aboard. I also wish to ex-tend a get well soon to our former Secretary, Maureen McNamara who is recovering from recent surgery. We have our Memorial Day celebration coming up very soon. The Riders will be participating in the Flag Raising, service at the cemetery and the parade on May 27th. Lets have a good turnout to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. We had about 25 bikes participate in a ride around the lake and the blessing of the bikes last Sunday. Thanks to Ride Captain Bob Vergith for planning, and leading us on a great ride. As always if you are interested in joining the Riders, con-tact me at [email protected]. Visit our website at alr787.com for ride info and news from the Riders. We will be having the Vet Fest at our Post on June 22nd with food, raffles and entertainment plus a ride. Remember. Freedom isn't free, support our Troops. Bruce Dauer, V. President ALR 787

Legion Riders are closing in on the Vet Fest, June 22nd, They are looking for items to put in the raf-fles. Please contact Bruce Dauer and let him know of any items you would like to donate, and if you got them donated from a retailer, let him know who it is. They will be recognizing mer-chants who donate. The Riders appreciate anyone pitching in to help, we are raising mon-ey for the American Le-gion Legacy Run and Feed Our Vets. This is what we are here for - so let’s all support this venture.

TROOP NEWS - The first week of May, Soldiers from Fort

Drum left again to fight and protect the United States and our Freedoms. So, if you see a soldier, take the time to thank him or her for their Service. In May we sent out 19 boxes to the Troops. Let’s, all of us, take a patriotic pause on Memorial Day, May 27th. In December 2000 Congress pass a law requiring American’s to pause at (3:00 PM Local Time) on Memorial Day to remember and Honor The Fallen. Troop Chairperson Linda Jackson
