Celebrate Dr. Suess. Kidstock! brings it’s unique interactive theater experience to the YMCA. Come and join Kidstock’s Actor/Educator for Dr. Seuss stories. Lessons of friendship and teamwork address issues of bullying, protecting the environment and making a difference with an active presentation of THE SNEETCHES, THE LORAX and HORTON HEARS A WHO. All in attendance will have the chance to be involved either by audience “call and response” or by volunteering to get “in on the act” as characters in a story. This event is FREE for members!

Spend the cold winter months heating up the bench rack while training for this bench press competition. Open to men and women. $30 will get you warm-ups, 3 lifts to your 1RM, as well as food and drink for your recovery. All proceeds go to our Annual Campaign. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female lifters!

Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose. The tournament will include 18 holes of golf, a cookout, dinner, auction, and prizes. All proceeds from the golf tournament will

benefit the Melrose Family YMCA Annual Fund.

Children will learn basic swim skills and pool safety while using maps and games to uncover clues that will lead to the hidden Pirate treasure. PIKEThis class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. These classes are designed for swimmers who are interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming and taught in a team format. The focus of the Fins Swim Program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke with no assistance & tread for at least 1 minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles.

THE GREAT ESCAPE SWIM CHALLENGEThis is a fun, competitive 7 week game to raise funds for our “Growing Stronger Together” campaign which supports our community and ensures that no one is turned away from the Y! PRIVATE LESSONSPrivate lessons are a great way to learn to swim or improve stroke techniques. Each lesson lasts 30 minutes. To register, fill out a request form at the Welcome Center. You will be contacted when a slot becomes available.

LAP SWIM & OPEN SWIMFREE for Members! Lap swim is available for ages 14+. Open swim is available to all ages. During Family Swim, children must be accompanied by an adult. Children 6 and younger MUST be accompanied by a supervising adult in the water within arm’s reach. All participants ages 6+ must use gender appropriate locker rooms. The Common Ground is open and FREE to all Melrose teens 12 years or older and is located at the Melrose Y. Qualified staff supervise the center and coordinate activities. The center offers a safe environment for teens to hang out with friends and provides billiards, ping pong, air hockey, video games, computers, and so much more. A full size gym is used for basketball, dodge ball, volleyball and other games. Each Common Ground night will feature a new theme and pizza will be provided!
