Your Y Online Account will allow you to access our online registration system and will ensure your privacy and credit card security. As always, you can register in person at our Welcome Center. All classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Class size is limited, therefore, it is wise to register early. To receive member rates you must have an active/valid membership for the entire session.

CLOSURE POLICYIt is the policy of the Melrose Y to remain open during inclement weather. Should the city or state declare an emergency, or the safety of our members and staff be in question, it may be necessary for the Y to close. In the event the Y does close, cancelled classes will not be made up, credited or refunded.

Progressive TRXThis class is a TRX series in which you will start from the basics of TRX and progress each week into more complex exercises. Each week, exercises from the previous class will be reinforced and a new series of exercises will be introduced to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability using the TRX Suspension Trainer. Pre and post session body composition analysis will also be included in this class. As a new member joining the Y, you may receive 2 appointments (included in your membership fee) to learn the correct usage of the strength training machines. Teens ages 14-18 must go through the Fitness Center Orientation to be educated on proper technique. Contact the Fitness Center Staff to make your appointments.

Respect, good manners, communication skills, discipline, and non-violent conflict resolution will be emphasized and taught as key components of true martial arts training and personal expression. Whether you’re a beginner or a tenured skater, Flynn Rink will be the place to bring the family to skate, glide, and slide around the ice. This event is FREE for members. Super Bowl Party Before the big game kicks off on Super Bowl Sunday, bring the family down to the Melrose YMCA Gymnasium for some quick foot-ball fun. We will have helmets to decorate with your favorite team’s colors, as well as flags to color and create for the game! If you want to get into the football spirit come on by for a morning of fun football action! This event is FREE for members. Kidstock! Creative TheaterCelebrate Dr. Suess month at the Melrose Y! Kidstock! brings it's unique interactive theater experience to the YMCA. Come and join Kidstock's Actor/Educator for DR SEUSS STORIES: Lessons of friendship and teamwork address issues of bullying, protecting the environment and making a difference with an active presentation of THE SNEETCHES, THE LORAX and HORTON HEARS A WHO. All in attendance will have the chance to be involved either through audience "call and response" or by volunteering to get "in on the act" as characters in a story. This event is FREE for members. YMCA Splash is a campaign to help teach kids how to be safer around water. It will help kids overcome fears they might have and will give them a sense of pride and accomplishment. STONEHAMMusic and Movement from

Around the World (3-5 years) Children will learn basic dance movements to child friendly music from the United States and other countries. We will also share games that keep kids moving as well as information about geography and other cultures.Tuesdays 11:00-11:45am

STONEHAM Creative Cooking (3-5 years)

Children will practice basic cooking skills to create fantastic foods, play dough etc. Samples of the children's cooking will be sent home with the recipe so that the whole family can enjoy the process.Thursdays 11:00-11:45am

Splat! (1.5-3 years) This class is for the young child who loves to let loose and make a mess! Many different materials are used to play in and make works of art. Parents are required to be present during class, as this one gets messy! Kids (and adults too) should bring their own clothing protection.Tuesday 9:30-10:15am Friday 9:30-10:15am

Hop-Skip-Read (2-3 years) A fun interactive time where you will run, hop, skip and jump through games that will develop gross motor skills. Class will finish each week with a story, perfect for the young child who may get tired out after a ½ hour of play.Wednesday 9:00-9:45am

Alphabet Soup (2-4 years)Your child will explore the alphabet through a story, craft, and/or song! This class is perfect for the child who can follow instruction and is interested in stories, art, song and the alphabet. This class is best suited for the child who can hold a writing tool and form basic shapes and letters.Tuesday 10:30-11:15am

Mini Chef (4-5 years) Learn to make easy and healthy no-bake snacks!Monday 11:00-11:45am Thursday 1:00-1:45am

Pint Size Painting (1.5-3 years) Toddlers will get the chance to create freely, with an instructor, based on the story they hear. Children will receive various supplies to allow for creative thinking and inspire their artistic skills. This class strengthens gross motor skills, listening and interpretation. Class will start with a story, focus on painting, and end with clean-up and creative play time.Thursday 9:30-10:15am

Messy Play (2-3 years)Enjoy painting, watercolors, chalk, play dough, glitter and glue. Smocks or old clothes are required.Tuesday 11:30-12:15am Friday 12:00-12:45pm

Older Baby Drop-in Play Group (9-18 months)Musical play for active and mobile babies and toddlers. Mamas, daddies and caretakers will participate in songs, musical games and fun play. T-Ball (3-5 years) This class teaches the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding, and hitting off a tee. This class uses imaginative games and silly play to introduce your preschooler to the fun game of baseball.Monday 11-11:45amThursday 10-10:45am

Flag Football (6-9 years) Earn the basic fundamentals like how to grip, throw, and catch a football. Drills focus on pass routes and agility techniques.Friday 5:00-5:45pm

Floor Hockey (6-9 years)Practice proper stick handling techniques, passing and shooting while learning the rules of game.Thursday 3:00-3:45pm

Mini All-Stars (3-5 years) This class offers different sports/ games each week. The emphasis will be on gross motor movement and cooperation. While the focus of the games will be sports, the kids will have fun in imagination based warm-ups, stretching and cool down games. This class is perfect for the child who is able to follow directions and have fun in a group of peers.Monday 10:00-10:45amSaturday 10:00-10:45am

Youth Gym and Swim (7-10 years) Love games in the gym and then playing in the pool? Games in the gym will get the kids’ hearts pumping for 30 minutes, then the instructor will escort them to the pool for a 40 minute lesson. This class is a two-for-one-fun!Monday 3:30-5:00pm

Kinder Gym and Swim (3-5 years) This hour long class combines fun in the pool and in the gym! All gymnastics classes are held at the Gymnastics Center, 156 Tremont Street, Melrose. Age is based on the first day of the session, sorry no exceptions! It is recommended for gymnasts of all ages to wear a leotard, if possible (sweatpants and tucked in T-shirt are appropriate for boys). All participants must have bare feet and hair must be pulled back tightly for class.

You can join us in our efforts by recycling paper from your home or office there as well. The Melrose Y receives a donation to our Growing Stronger Together Campaign for all the paper recycled.

FUN FRIDAY MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTSEvery Friday throughout the school year, the Melrose YMCA and Melrose Recreation Department will be running events and activities for Middle School students. Chaperones and volunteers are needed for all events! In interested, please contact the Melrose Recreation Department or the Melrose YMCA.

1st Friday of Month Common Ground Teen Center at Melrose Y

The Common Ground is open and FREE to all Melrose teens in grades 6-8 and is located at the Melrose Y. Qualified staff supervise the center and coordinate activities. The center offers a safe environment for teens to hang out with friends and provides billiards, ping pong, air hockey, video games, computers, and so much more. A full size gym is used for basketball, dodge ball, volleyball and other games. Each Common Ground night will feature a new theme. Pizza will be provided for $1 a slice.

2nd Friday of Month Teen Trip Night

Join us for one of our Teen Trip Nights! We will be leaving from the Melrose Middle School at 7pm and taking registered participants on field trips to fun destinations. All trips cost $10 and include bus transportation and entry fees.
