School Photos—7th March All forms and payments should be returned to the school by Tuesday 1st March. Thanks to those who have already done so. School Council 2016 There are 3 vacancies for parent nominees. If you are interested or have questions, please let me know. Student Leaders Activities The Student Leaders of 2016 intend to run a car wash in the coming weeks. This will be advertised in the newsletter, through our Facebook page and around the town. Any parent helpers would be appreciated and all proceeds allocated to the 52 Storey Treehouse excursion to Bendigo on March 17th. Swimming Program Yesterday we had our final session in the 50m pool in Swan Hill. It has been a pleasure to take our children to these sessions as they have con-tinued to be perfectly behaved and well mannered both during the travel-ling and whilst at the pool. All students have swum the 50m in a variety of strokes, both with and without a kick board. The Sporting Schools grant for T1 and T2 have allowed us to cover the travel and entry costs for these visits and is certainly greatly appreciated for enabling us to expand on the opportunities and experiences available to every student. To cele-brate the last visit to the Swan Hill Pool, the lifeguards opened the waterslide and all students enjoyed quite a number of slippery slides! Music Lessons Alex Newell starts lessons at WGS next Wednesday 2nd March. Interest-ed students should register their interest so we can set lesson times and fit everyone in. Wednesday 2nd March Next Wednesday both Mrs Mitchell and I are attending meetings & pro-fessional development. Mrs Janet Wight will be at school with Veronica for the day. If you need to contact the school on this day please do so on the school phone 50812191. Community Pool Party It was terrific to see all our school families and so many others (in fact over 60 people) attend the community pool party last Friday night at the Woomelang Swimming Pool. It was a terrific night and a lovely opportuni-ty to catch up with many community members.

Week 5 – Cyberbullying Unfortunately online bullying is an issue many children face. As a parent there are many ways that you can help your child & encourage them to take control of the issue.
Talk to them about cyberbullying before it happens. Work out strategies to address any potential issues
and reassure your child that you will be there to support them.
Reassure your child that you won’t block their access to the internet if they report concerns about cyberbul-
lying.
Help them to stay connected to supportive family and friends both online and offline.
Advise your child not to reply to any messages from a bully. Often if bullies don’t receive a response they
will give up.
Learn how to block so they are no longer able to make contact with your child.
Advise your child not to respond to any negative messages but to save the messages and details of the
sender/s.
Contact the website admin or use the reporting function to ask for content to be removed or to report har-
assment.
Talk to your child’s school if cyberbullying involves another student. Schools often have a policy in place to
help manage the issue.
Visit www.esafety.gov.au for more information on how to help your children to stay safe online.
