Barn Dance

What a great opportunity for our students to showcase their wonderful line dancing learning alongside two of our other rural schools, Makuri and Pongaroa. A huge “Thank You” to Lisa Hull for the hours she spent teaching our students these routines and then leading us on the day. Thank you to all the parents who supported this event, it was a huge success.

Bus Runs

Just a reminder …

o Morning bus run changes must be made directly with your driver. o Unless you, as a parent, have contacted the school the teachers and drivers WILL follow the

instructions on their bus board for the afternoon. o The school is still responsible for the students until they are dropped off at the agreed

designated spot, this is a legal requirement.

FROM THE CLASSROOM TUI ROOM are learning about instructions - we followed instructions to make jam sandwiches.

KIWI ROOM It was a warm sunny morning so I decided to take Fido for a walk along the beach. I walked along the soft, white sand with the wind blowing in my face. The beach was deserted except for Fido and I. As I walked further up the beach I stumbled on something hard in the sand. I got up and brushed the sand off. When I looked down I was surprised to see… …a skeleton of a person. I leapt back. I rang the Police. The Police came. They grabbed the skeleton. The next day the police rang and said it is just from Halloween. So I took the skeleton home. The next day I woke up. I heard a noise in the kitchen. I walked over to the noise in kitchen. Aaaaah! The skeleton was alive! I tiptoed to ring the police. The police didn’t answer. The skeleton grabbed my foot. He pulled me to the water down by the beach. He led me to a dark cave. There were more skeletons. It was a city of skeletons. I was surprised that I could breathe. I had to dress up as a skeleton. I lay down there for a really long time. One found me. I lived down there for 3 years. I saw a boat and a skeleton. The skeleton dived, he grabbed me. Fido came. He barked at all the skeletons. The skeleton made a big monster. Me and Fido ran out of the water. We went back to the house , then we sat down for a while. Then we heard a noise. Me and Fido looked out the window, the city was under attack. I stayed home with Fido. We didn’t care a little bit so we hid from the skeletons. Grace …candy. It looked so yum I could just eat it but I am gluten free so I can’t have any. After that I went walking around because I had nowhere to stay but a kind couple said I can stay for the weekend. Farryn. …a llama. It was sleeping in a box of food and water so I took it home but the llama was dirty. So Fido took the llama back. The fruit in the box was rotten so I took the fruit and put it in the rubbish. Then I went to check on the llama and Fido. Fido was licking the llama so I went to get some food from the pantry. After I went back the llama was gone. I went to get Fido. Fido was gone too. So I went for a long walk. They were in the same spot on the beach. So I took Fido and the llama back home. I was mad at Fido because he was in charge but he was not going to be in charge again. So I put him back in his cage but I was a little cross at the

llama too because she told Fido to go and Fido went. So I tied the llama up to a post and after I had relaxed I put the llama in the pet store and they took care of her Pippa … a handle to a treasure chest. I opened the chest and saw a dinosaur skeleton covered in $100 notes. I was going to be rich. Suddenly I fainted. 10 minutes later I woke up and a dinosaur skeleton was on the run. I got up and started chasing it. Money was flying everywhere. I tried to catch the money but it was slowing me down so I stopped catching money. The dinosaur bones were made of opal. If I caught the skeleton I would be a millionaire. So I sped up. I was running so fast I was digging up the sand. Where was Fido I wondered? I tripped up again on the skeleton. I was so confused. Then I saw Fido. He had caught a dinosaur skeleton. I'm going to be rich! Suddenly it's started to sleep. I pulled as hard as I could but I needed some help. I was starting to sink too. The skeleton popped out of the sand and started to run again. I got my feet unstuck and started to chase the skeleton. Then I saw a quad bike so I went and got it and started to chase the dinosaur skeleton. Surprisingly I saw a gun on the front of quad bike. I thought if I shot the skeleton it would fall over. So I got the gun aimed and pulled the trigger. Bullseye! The skeleton dropped. I drove over to the skeleton and picked it up. It was surprisingly heavy. I took it to the person who buys opal. He offered me one million dollars. I said, “Yes please.” “I am rich!” I said to myself. Hunter …my Mums old necklace that I had lost. It was the only thing to remember her by. “Grandad would be happy to see this wouldn’t he boy”. Grandad was always going on about how it had some magic to it and to be very careful around it. Well that was until I lost it. I never really understood what he was going on about though. I raced back to him but suddenly a tornado appeared out of nowhere. It swept me up. I was swirling around like mad. Suddenly I banged my head on something. I got knocked over. After a while I woke up but I wasn’t on the beach anymore. I was in a forest but how? I looked for Fido. He was chasing a butterfly. “Fido” I asked “Where are we?” But he had no clue. He was as confused as I was. I heard a strange noise in the bushes. Suddenly a gnome jumped out. “Who are you?” I called “and where am I? What am I doing here?” “Are you Ladys son?” the gnome said “How do you know that?” I said “So you are Ladys son, we’ve been waiting for you” “What do you mean you’ve been waiting for me?” “me and other gnomes once had a great warrior that looked after us but one day a troll took her away and ate her” “Really?” “Yes really. We’ve been waiting for you to become our new warrior” “Me? But I don’t know how to be a warrior” “Fine, just think about it. While you are thinking about it come see our home” “Ok, I suppose” The gnome houses were in trees. They were all funny shapes and sizes. I still didn’t know if I could quite trust these gnomes. They took me to the kitchen first. I asked why are we going her first? They said no reason but I knew something wasn’t right . I wanted to know what was going on though so I kept on following him. In the middle of the kitchen there was a huge pot. It was hot and boiling. I wondered for a while then I realised they didn’t want me to be their warrior. They wanted to kill me. I started to run. They ran after me. I think they knew that I knew. I didn’t know why they wanted to kill me though. Suddenly my mums necklace started to chant “When the trolls killed your Mum they also killed some of the trolls. The rest of the trolls got angry because she didn’t protect them, so they wanted to kill you. The way to get back is to bang your head on something” I got the necklace and I banged it on my head. Then I woke up back on the beach. I ran back to Grandad. I told him everything he said. “Remember I told you this necklace is dangerous. Never touch it again or you will go back there, stay away” Simone
