34-1 5 Weather Radar System
-01 Predictive Windshear Detection and Avoidance System
Wind shear recovery procedures i. During pre-departure briefing, crew must review the windshear recognition & avoidance procedure. ii. Crew to exercise caution and avoid flying during known
monsoon / windshear conditions. iii. However, if no known weather activity is predicted and
the flight is conducted during daylight hours back to base or to a station where repair facilities are available, the flight
may be operated at the discretion of the PIC. iv. If the flight is conducted as per conditions mentioned in (ii) above, the crew should avoid operating in and out of
known areas of wind shear activity. v. Crew to be extra alert for airspeed/ flight path deviation during approach and landing.
34-2 6 Terrain Awareness and Warning system
-01 GPWS Function i. Do not Take-off in wind shear or marginal weather condition when you will not have terrain insight. ii. The PM will call out V1, Radio Altitude(2500, 1000, 500, 10 0, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10) and Minimums as these automatic
callouts will not be available. iii. Standard instrument departure and approach procedures
to be adhered to or request for radar vectoring. iv. Use all the cockpit resources to monitor the airplane
altitude/speed and flight path. Special emphasis for the to MSA/MORA during Departure and arrival phases. In case engine fail situation the PNF after carrying out the intial task as per SOP for Engine Fail condition will inform the of high
Terrian situation and monitor the progress of the flight keeping in view the enroute obstacle/terrain for a safe flight.
-01-01 GPWS Modes 1 - 4 The GPWS modes 1 to 4 provide alerts for the following; Mode 1 – Excessive Descent Rate
– Excessive Closure to Terrain – Altitude Loss After Takeoff
– Unsafe Terrain Clearance In the event of non availability of any the above modes, The crew shall in their departure/arrival briefing review the deviation callouts .
i) The PM will call out V1, Radio Altitude(2500, 1000, 500, 10 0, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10) and Minimums as these automatic
callouts might not be available. ii) Standard instrument departure and approach procedures to be adhered to or request for radar vectoring.

to be adhered to. iii. Use all the systems available to monitor the airplane altitude and flight path and special attention to be
maintained with regard to MSA/MORA/ Safety Height.
-01-05 GPWS Windshear warning and
flight guidance Mode (Reactive)
i. Crew to exercise caution and avoid flying during active
monsoon / windshear conditions. ii. However, if no adverse weather is predicted and the flight is conducted during daylight hours back to base or to a
station where repair facilities are available, the flight may be operated at the discretion of the PIC. iii. If the flight is conducted, the crew should avoid operating
in and out of known areas of windshear activity.
-02 GPWS ,Terrain System – Forward Looking Terrain Avoidance and Premature Descent Alert Functions
i. Use all the systems available to monitor the airplane altitude and flight path and special attention to be maintained with regard to MSA/MORA/Safety Height.

34-4 5 Global Positioning System i.FMC Navigation using Radio and Inertial input meet the
requirement for RNP-10/5/1, BRNAV & PRNAV. PRNAV/RNP- 1/RNAV-1 in terminal areas can be maintained with the updates using ground based Navigation equipment like VOR
DME, DME DME etc. En-route Navigation with BRNAV/RNP10/RNP-5 can be operated with the data received from the ground based system. In Terminal areas,
it is recommended to use Radio raw data cross checked to confirm the position. Procedure relating to RNP alerting to be used when applicable. In case Radio updating is not
taking place and RNP alert occurs then inform ATC and ask for RADAR Approach or continuance of Approach using
Radio aids only. Be alert before departure to the fact that certain stations may not have Radio aids based procedures, in which case flight is not possible without RADAR control till
Final Approach.
34-55 Vertical Situation Display i.Use of Vertical Situation Display is not a part of our SOP. It may be unserviceable.

NONESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS (NEF)
NEF are those items installed on the aircraft as part of the original type certification,
supplemental type certificate, or other form of alteration that have no effect on the safe
operation of flight and would not be required by the applicable certification rules or
operational rules. They are those items that, if inoperative, damaged, or missing, have no
effect on the aircraft’s ability to be operated safely under all operational conditions. These
nonessential items may be installed in areas including, but not limited to, the passenger
compartment, flight deck area, service areas, cargo areas, crew rest areas, lavatories, and
galley areas. NEF items are not items already identified in the MEL or CDL of the applicable
aircraft. They do not include items that are functionally required to meet the certification rule
or for compliance with any operational rule.
NEF process shall not provide for deferral of items within serviceable limits identified in the
manufacturer’s maintenance manual or approved maintenance program such as wear limits,
fuel/hydraulic leak rates, oil consumption, etc. Cosmetic items that are fully serviceable but
worn or soiled may be deferred under NEF process.
The NEF Program provides a legal basis that is standardized and available to all for deferral
of items not found in the current MEL. NEF replaces non-safety deferral authorizations
currently provided in some maintenance programs. As policy all NEF listed below can be
deferred for period of 120 days and will fall under Category D. However, in case of exigency
the SIC can decide on its deferral for a period defined by him. At outstation the Certifying
Staff of AICL or Maintenance service provider can defer without consulting base station as
long as it does not come in any way safe operation, passenger or payload safety.
The item listed as NEF is not exhaustive or exclusive but representative. In case of doubt the
NEF definition given in first paragraph above should be applied.
If remarks column is blank then it means that item can be missing/ damaged/ soiled/ dirty
provided it is not affecting safety of Passenger/ Crew.
