Problem statement

an initiative is needed to handle these changes efficiently;

Programme

A programme has been developed to

adapt business statistics to new needs and at the same time to

adjust the production system of statistics to reduce burden on business.

Scope and objectives

Firstly, it will be important to agree on the new areas that are to be portrayed.

Secondly, all statistics related to business should be streamlined.

Thirdly, on the side of data collection and treatment, integration is needed as well.

Finally, Intrastat was already identified where simplifications are necessary.

The development of target sets of indicators and a review of priorities

Action 1.1: Development of new areas define priority areas and define target set of indicators; work on harmonised definitions of newly identified characteristics and indicators;

support Member States in developing and testing their statistics in the priority areas in a harmonised manner.
