MEETING REPORT 157 Annual Meeting of the French Section The ~qnual meeting of the French Section was held September 9-10, 1971, at Lille under the auspices of the Universit( des Sciences et Tech- niques at V'dle3"euve d'Ascq. Professor M. Lucquin was respor~'ble for the local organization and hosted the meeting. The attendance totalled 95, out of which over one third came from industrial firms. The first day was devoted to the relations between un~et~ity and industrial scientists work- ing in the field of combust/on. An opening address on this subject was given by Dr. A. Moirouxof the ]~ole Centrale de Lyon with a view to opening a discussion from the floor, exchanging ideas and information on possible cooperation, and obtain- ing an informal survey on "who does what". The debate on the relations between university and industry which followed Dr. Moiroux's paper was moderated by the French Section Officers, namely d,~irm~n p. Laffitte and secretary R. Iklbomgo, aiming at the formulation of a tenta- tive resolution. A motion was passed that the Office of the French Section be used to obtain and circulate the information which would be made available. It was decided that the objective would be best served by preparing a questionnaire.to be sent out to all the members of the section. The questions on this form will clearly state that the nature of the problems under investigation, the methods used or available, and the precise topics each party would like to see the other party investigate. The possible and projected form of cooperation would also be stated: contract, con- sultancy, etc. Each individual member w~ be asked to investi- gate ins/de his own firm and organization the possible benefit to he drawn by the scientific community from the projected document, which would be expected to provide an answer to the following questions: Who, What, Why, How, Where. The remainder of the meeting included the following general papers presented on a thirty minute basis, allowing for a ten minutes dis- cus=on: Thursday, September 9th, 1971 M. Annual Meeting of the French Section

The ~qnual meeting of the French Section was held September 9-10, 1971, at Lille under the auspices of the Universit( des Sciences et Tech- niques at V'dle3"euve d'Ascq.

It was decided that the objective would be best served by preparing a questionnaire.to be sent out to al l the members of the section.

The remainder of the meeting included the following general papers presented on a thirty

minute basis, allowing for a ten minutes dis- cus=on:
