Dust sample analysis, $500 test, interior and exterior Program can replace older wooden windows—a savings of thousands of dollars to home-owners Program looking for 40-50 more homes to test in Salt Lake County Takes 60-90 days from start to completion of evaluation project Online application available at Lead Safe Homes website (link) Average $4000-$5000 in repairs with certified lead specialists Program can also test for Radon, and can assist with radon mitigation if lead problem is also discovered, which is $1000 average Residents can test their homes themselves for radon for $8; home tests available at most hardware and home improvement stores ------------------------------------ Colin Quinn-Hurst Transportation Planner, SLC Transportation 801-535-6134; Colin.Quinn-Hurst@slcgov.com

Update on the McClelland Trail (link) Construction on the McClelland Trail scheduled to begin this summer on a new walking and bicycling route in the heart of ELPCO. The trail stretches from 800 South to Highland Drive south of I-80. The McClelland Trail follows the route of an open canal that flowed from the headwaters of the Jordan River to the Great Salt Lake In the 1910s the canal was covered over and diverted to a culvert City retained the right-of-way with the canal underneath it. The canal still flows underneath the streets and alleys. Fast-forward to 1980s, ELPCO originated the idea of a neighborhood corridor for walking/biking McClelland Trail concept started making its way into SLC Master Plans In the early 2000's ELPCO put together a CIP request along with the Sugarhouse Community Council to give the SLC Transportation Division funds to build trail In 2010-11 funds were allocated to SLC Transportation to develop an implementation plan McClelland Trail implementation plan was adopted by City Council in 2013 SLC Transportation currently has funds to build trail from 800 S to 2100 S; ELPCO appreciates the work of Council member Erin Mendenhall for supporting the funding for the McClelland Trail project Second phase of trail construction will continue the trail from Sugarmont Plaza to The Brickyard Some of the trail runs along streets like 1100 E and McClelland Street. Trail constriction will improve street access by making better bike lanes along 1100 E between 1300 S and Roosevelt; additional stripping instead of a larger bike lane Maintenance for the trail will include trash pick-up, dog waste stations, and winter-time plowing Adding lighting to the trail would take up entire budget; but it could be done in the future

Previous McClelland Trail workshops held on October 7, 2015 Attended by 40-50 people who prioritized aspects of the trail Residents wanted high visibility crosswalks, a clean alleyway, and they didn’t want fast cyclists zooming by them at top speed Construction will be finished in fall 2016 SLC Transportation negotiated access agreements with property owners who have encroached on the 66-foot wide right-of-way in the alley sections of the trail. SLC Transportation staffers went door-to-door along the corridor to work with each property owner When Engineering Division is going to be doing work along the trail there will be a lot of public notice Meeting adjourned at 8:10pm Minutes drafted by Jason Stevenson.
