Report of the Women’s 2019 World Championships Athlete Selection Committee Meeting

Summary of the Meeting

The Athlete Selection Committee connected with the independent observer by phone and reviewed the selection criteria.

Petitions

No petitions were submitted for the 2019 Women’s World Team Selection Camp. Per the selection procedures, athletes may not petition directly to the 2019 World Championships Team.

Considerations of Criteria and Decision The Final Results are defined by combined results from the following:

• 2019 American Classic • 2019 U.S. Classic • 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships • International competitions • World Team Selection Camp

All prequalifying competitions were reviewed by the selection committee and were deemed to be weighted equally. The selection committee also considered and regarded highly the following selection criteria: Readiness to compete, demonstrated by progression of results, D-scores, E-scores, consistency, and other discretionary criteria, as listed on the selection procedures.

Simone Biles was automatically selected to the World Championship Team at the conclusion of day 1 of competition at the 2019 World Selection Camp as the All-Around leader. There were no other automatic qualifiers as defined by selection procedures.

A second day of competition was held at the World Team Selection Camp where athletes performed on two events, as determined by the High-Performance Coordinator in conjunction with each personal coach. The selection committee evaluated these results with consideration of readiness to compete, consistency, D-scores, E-scores, and other discretionary criteria, as listed in the selection procedures.

AUSA GYMNASTICS.

The Athlete Selection Committee considered the composite strength of the proposed World Team

members and their medal potential In the Aii-Around and individual Event competitions, as set forth in

the selection procedures.

The remaining criteria in the selection procedures were used for consideration of all athletes and all

remaining team scoring scenarios. An evaluation and comparison of the following was discussed by the

committee members.

1. Consistency was determined by identifying hit routines from all competitive events listed above,

as defined in the selection procedures. Eligible athletes' hit percentages were discussed and

compared on each event from each competition.

2. Each athlete's D and E-scores from all competitive events listed above were compared and

discussed amongst the committee members.

3. Each athlete's World Class presentation, defined as the strength, endurance, technical execution

standard and artistic components commensurate with World and Olympic presentation was

discussed.

4. The committee discussed and compared numerous potential line-ups on each event to

determine the composite Strength of all the World Team members with consideration of

potential for Team, All Around and Individual Event medals.

5. Each athlete demonstrated a professional attitude, compliance with responsibility manual, and

ability to positively contribute to the team dynamic.

As a result of this process, the Athlete Selection Committee assigned the following athletes to the

2019 USA Gymnastics World Championships Team.
