Our Volunteers

April is National Volunteer Month. Here at Waterford Senior Living we are blessed to have lots of volunteers. These people come faithfully to perform any number of duties here at WSL. These people enrich our lives in ways they will never know. A big THANKYOU to all of them from all of us. If you see any of these people in our building or in the community please thank them. They deserve it 100 fold.

We have also started an Adopt-a-Grandparent program here. People from the community come one a week and visit 1 resident. We have paired them up based on interests, hobbies or past history. Our residents that are involved right now have grown to enjoy the company and look for-ward to their visit. One gentleman comes and plays his button box in the dining room after his visit for all to enjoy. It is a reward-ing experience for all involved. Our resi-dents have gained a new friend and our Adoptee’s have gained an insight into the interesting lives of our residents. Lots of fun for all involved. Please thank these wonderful volunteers who have made this commitment to our residents.

Easter Egg Dying On Good Friday we dyed Easter Eggs. What a surprise when we took them out of the dye and they all had our names on them. Bright, colorful eggs are a sure sign of spring. It was nice to see them on the tables on Easter Morning.

For a while in March we watched momma and daddy duck scouting out a place to build a nest. Wouldn’t you know that they built it in the same spot as last year, right under the living room window of room 301. It must have been a good spot. Marie has been keeping an eye on the nest for us. Momma duck laid 11 eggs. We talked to Vi, who is a poultry expert and she said they should take 28 days to hatch. Based on our cal-culations, we are all anticipating the arrival of the babies the weekend of April 23rd. Last year, they hatched and left the nest almost right away. Hope-fully we will get to see them waddle down to the pond. We’ll keep you posted.
