MEET THE ACNM MEMBER AT LARGE Jane Elliott In this issue we introduce another officer of ACNM: Jane Elliott, Mem- ber at Large (1972-1974). R.N. Mary Immaculate Hospital, School of Nursing (Jamaica, N.Y.); B.S.N. Long Island University; C.N.M. The Mater- nity Center Association. Miss Elliott held a number of positions in nursing before she came to nurse-midwifery. Her experience included staff nursing in labor and delivery, office nursing, private duty nursing, and supervision. Following her internship in nurse-midwifery, she joined the nurse-midwifery depart- ment at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, her home town, as a staff nurse-midwife; later she was appoint- ed instructor of nurse-midwifery. Cur- rently, she is the Director of the N urse-Midwifery Service at Kings County Hospital with a faculty appointment at State University of New York, College of Health Related Professions, Nurse-Midwifery Pro- grams, Brooklyn. Being employed as Director of one of the largest nurse-midwifery ser- vices in the country has not lessened Miss Elliott’s interest and enthusiasm .‘ for ACNM activities. She is known to College members for her active and energetic participation in the work of various committees-Chairman of the Membership Committee (1 970 to pre- sent), Secretary of Local Chapter 4, National Committee in Establishing Local Chapters, and Finance Commit- tee. Presently, she is also a consultant for Chapter 4’s Legislation Commit- tee. It is not surprising that she is con- sidered an expert on Robert’s Rules of Order by her colleagues. 25 f Fall 1973, Vol. XVIII, No. 3
