WEALTH and JOBS. Creating a better society where all have an equal chance of success and prosperity is at the core of the Tourism Enterprise Partnership (TEP). TEP is a Non Pro� t Company and a � agship public private partnership. It is one of the longest standing and most successful enterprise develop-ment partners for small tourism businesses in South Africa. TEP utilises funding from Corporate South Africa and Government to facilitate the growth, development and sustainability of small tourism businesses.

Each year TEP invests millions in the expansion of these businesses across South Africa. TEP has developed a unique enterprise development model that allows small businesses to graduate upwards and overcome the credibility crises su� ered by many. At each step of the process TEP has a number of programmes that o� er hands-on, step-by-step support to improve product quality, operational e� ciency, and provide greater market access.

Since 2000 TEP has supported small tourism businesses to expand and improve business operations, leading to them creating over 70,000 jobs in the tourism industry and increasing turnover by R5,6 billion. TEP has also provided tourism training and skills development for more than 21,000 individuals and have mentored 318 business owners.

UMLANI BUSHCAMP

Who we areUmlani Bushcamp is a rustic yet exclusive lodge and accom-modates 16 guests in cosy en-suite reed and thatch rondavels.

Umlani Bushcamp was founded in 1989 by Marco and Marie-Louise Schiess in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Umlani was built in the central section of the Timbavati, which is now part of the greater Kruger National Park.

What we doUmlani’s philosophy of simplistic luxury is enhanced by operating without electricity, so the entire camp is lit by candle light and oil lamps, providing a warm and romantic atmo-sphere. Early morning and evening game drives are available in open four-wheel drive vehicles accompanied by experi-enced rangers and trackers. A traversing area of more than 10,000 hectares with over 40 mammal and 350 bird species, makes for an exceptional wildlife experience. Umlani personalises the whole event and specialises in escorted walks into this unspoiled wilderness.
