Meet at Agra 2014 - POST EVENT PRESS RELEASE

The three day Mega Event, Meet at Agra 2014 (8th edition of Meet at Agra) concluded on

9th Nov. 2014 creating an all time record in terms participation of Exhibiters, Footfall of

Business visitors & the anticipated business.

The Fair was inaugurated by our young & illustrious Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar

Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav, on the 7th Nov. 2014. We are extremely grateful to him for

sparing his valuable time for our Event in spite of having an extremely busy schedule.

The Honourable Chief Minister also unveiled the Foundation stones of following Agra Infra

Projects sanctioned under the ASIDE Scheme in the Fair Ground:

1. Trade Centre -sanctioned by the Union Govt.

2. Testing Lab. with Design Studio -sanctioned by Govt. of U.P.

The Honourable Chief Minister gave the Awards to the Top Three Exporters of Agra,

Product Excellence Awards in Footwear & in Components, Life Time Achievement Award &

the Chief Patron Award to the senior most AFMEC Member. The Awardees are listed

below:

There was an overwhelming response for the 8th edition of Meet at Agra. This year the

Exhibition area was increased by 500 Sq. M & the Fair was sold out by first week of

October14.

Many companies had to face disappointment as there was no space. We had to make

about twenty Stalls in the area opposite to Exhibition Halls for Non Footwear Companies &

Institutions.

We had made 252 Stalls in an area of 6000 Sq. M. There were a total of 176 Companies

which participated in the Fair. We had a footfall of 18000 visitors out of which there were

6471 serious business visitors. All Exhibiters were extremely happy with the response. The

anticipated business during this Fair is Rs. 1500 Crore.

We had about 35 overseas exhibiters who had participated directly or through their Agents

in India. Taiwan Footwear Manufacturers Association had come with 10 Member

Companies & they have assured to have a much bigger participation in the next edition.

Other overseas Companies were from Turkey, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, Brazil,

China, Thailand & Pakistan.

The Fair had the finest collection of Finished Leather, Pig lining, Soles, Heels, Shoe Lasts,

Shoe accessories, Packaging boxes, Shoe finishes, Chemicals & adhesives. The state of the

Art Footwear machineries were displayed by Taiwan, Italy, China & Indian Companies.

On the second Day of the Show, AFMEC organized A Panel Discussion in association with

Zee Business who were the Media Partners for this edition.

In context to “Make in India” The Panel discussion was on the “Role of Leather Industry in

Generation of Employment & Foreign Exchange”. The Panelists for the discussion were:

A Gala Dinner & Fashion Show was organized on 8th Nov. 14 at The Gateway Hotel for All

exhibiters, AFMEC Members & Special Invitees. FDDI Noida was the Main Sponsor for the

Fashion Show. AFMEC Member Companies show cased their Trendiest Footwear.

A special attraction in the Fair was the 6’6” High Boot made by the Students of CFTI, Agra

under the guidance of Mr. B. K. Verma from CFTI

During the Post Event Press conference held in the evening on 9th Nov. 2014 “Best

Participation” Awards were given to following:

1. Best Participation in Components Category- M/S Priti Sales Corporation

2. Best Participation in Leather Category – M/S Amar Nath & Sons

3. Best Participation in Machinery Category – M/S Bengal Sewing Mart Pvt. Ltd.

President AFMEC declared the Tentative Dates for next edition as 30 Oct., 31 Oct. &

01 Nov. 2015.

“Meet at Agra” is now truly a successful International Mega Event. AFMEC Team will work

harder to make the Fair Bigger & Better every year.
