Dear Beloved Guests,

It is hard to believe we are half way through the summer. As the weather gets better

daily, our community is coming together to celebrate. The togetherness that summer

represents has been my inspiration in creating our new community outreach program.

Medusa salon has joined “The Little Things, Inc.” to work for a cleaner, healthier future

for our planet. I have committed my business to reducing emissions and waste by

engaging in little behavior changes that can potentially have a huge impact. You will

notice our staff carrying reusable cups for drinking to help slow the production of

harmful plastics. Other high impact behavior changes that can benefit all of us include

watching our water usage, turning off our cars while waiting, and using recycled

materials for printing. These small changes will allow my children to enjoy our beach

community like I have.

Medusa has also joined a movement called “Chairs of Change” which is a networking

group amongst beauty professionals to promote local causes and positive change.

Future plans include beach cleanups, cut-a-thons for local charities, and educating

clients on community programs. Recognizing the incredible opportunity we have as

hairdressers to make a positive impact in our community, Medusa salon will be

committed to doing just that from this point forward. Please join us in making a

difference.

Love Always,

Sharri Hillman

A Letter from Sharri…

Join Us for Style and Support- Lending a Helping Hand

How to Make a Fishtail Braid: The Latest Trend in Style.

Latest trend in hair: fishtail braid.

Please help us raise money to support a member of our close Medusa Family.

The Style for Support night will be on August 27 from 4pm-8pm. Medusa is

offering blow dries for a small donation to get you ready for the weekend. All

proceeds will be donated to a local family whose daughter recently passed

away after a viscous fight with brain cancer. For those who cannot make the

style for support night there will be donation slips at the reception desk the

entire month of August. Come ready to snack, sip on some wine, get beautiful,

and most importantly support a family in need. We can’t wait to see you there!

Step One: Divide your detangled, second-day hair into two

equal sections.

Step Two: Hold the right hand section in your right hand. With

your left hand, take a thin strand of hair from the outside of the

left hand section, cross it over, and add it to the inside of the

right hand section.

Step Three: Do the same thing on the other side: that is, hold

the left hand section in your left hand, use your right hand to

take a thin strand of hair from the outside of the right hand

section, cross it over, and add it to the inside of the left hand

section. You'll need to use gravity to your advantage as you

keep changing hands, and if the strands keep slipping then

your hair probably isn't 'dirty' enough (running some mousse or

styling wax through your hair will fix this problem in a jiffy).

One of the most effective ways to wear a fishtail braid is on the

side, as an extra-special version of the classic side braid. It not

only looks awesome but means that you can do it yourself in

front of the mirror, without needing to have anyone else there

to help out. The looser you hold the strands, the 'fatter' your

fishtail braid will be, giving a more relaxed finish to the overall

look.

Other ways to wear a fishtail braid include as a single addition

to lose hair (like Aubrey O'Day has done), in two super-girly

pigtails (like Kim Kardashian's), or incorporated into a more

elaborate braided style like Diane Kruger's (but unless you're a

braiding expert, you'll probably want to leave this one to your

hairdresser!)

Like all the best hairstyles, the fishtail braid (also known as the 'herringbone

braid') is one that looks intricate and tricky to do, but with a bit of practice

becomes nearly as easy to create as a regular three-strand braid. And like so

many of today's popular styles, it actually looks better when it's slightly

messed up rather than being perfectly neat and tidy - so no big deal if you

happen to drop a strand here or there. Read on for tips on how to make a

beautiful fishtail braid, along with the usual gallery of celebrity photos for your

hairstyle inspiration.

Feeling Tense? Meet Sakura!

Hello! My name is Sakura. Medusa is now offering massages on

Wednesdays and Fridays. Currently, we are offering a “chair

massage,” where you would sit face down on a chair hidden behind

a partition and receive a massage on your neck, shoulders, back,

arms and hands. Massage is a feel-good way to indulge or pamper

yourself, but it can also be a powerful tool in combating stress.

Massage is effective in alleviating low-back pain, stretching tight

muscles in the neck and shoulders, improving blood and lymph

circulation to deliver nutrients and remove wastes in the areas that are

tight or traumatized, reducing inflammation and swelling in joints and

muscles. Please let me know if I can answer your questions.

Austin getting prepared for a busy day.

Aries: Expect the unexpected this month.

Always be ready for what this month could

throw on you. Style your hair, everyday, in

versatile yet glamorous ways. Braids work

best.

Taurus: You may increase your earnings this

month or find love. Your hair needs to look

soft. Lighten your color and layer your cut.

Gemini: Pay attention to your finances this

month. Don’t commit to high cost hair. Keep

it simple and fun. Try minimal color and a

trim.

Cancer: This month is all about splurging. In

your motivation to better yourself treat

yourself to the works: new color, dramatic

cut and lots of styles.

Leo: Choose to be confident this month. Kick

up the hair. If you’re blonde, go blonder. If

it’s straight wear it curly. You want your look

to match your confident attitude.

Virgo: You will be mentoring others a lot this

month. Set an example by looking great. No

need for dramatic change, but keep your

hair up. No Roots, no messy hair. Polished is

your word of the month.

Hairstyle Horoscopes- How do the planets want you to look?

Libra: This month could be challenging for you.

Make sure to take time and relax. Get a relaxing

treatment and come in for regular blow outs to

pamper yourself. Keep your chin up.

Scorpio: Over confidence or arrogance could

mean disappointment. Keep your look more

conservative. If you’re textured take your cut

more solid.

Sagittarius: Be ready for love this month. It is

coming your way. Be ready for it. If you’re in a

relationship, it will get stronger. Keep your hair

super sexy. Try big bouncy curls and lots of

volume.

Capricorn: Your love life will be satisfying and

sensual this month. Wear a style that is “bed

friendly” and looks good messy.

Aquarius: You are ready to face the public this

month. Your communication will be strong as

well as intrapersonal relationships. Look like you.

Wear color and cut that are the essence of you

to extenuate that personality.

Pisces: You are surrounded by friends, family,

and neighbors this month. Keep it comfortable

and low maintenance. Flat iron for smoothness

and try wearing your hair half up half down.
