How young people see themselves has a lot to do with how themedia represent them. What magazines does your school librarymedia center subscribe to? Do these publications tell studentseverything they need to know? Do they deal withstereotypes, body image, product placement? Is the content ofthe magazine influenced by the advertisers? These are justsome issues to consider as you begin to study magazines andmedia literacy.
