UK NHS Ambulance Services have recently introduced various
practitioners into their frontline A&E model. They are to expand
the skill set they have and develop alternative transport methodsfor their patients, especially the lower category of patient. Some
of these roles have replaced the IHCD technician in most
services.
This demand has prompted Medipro to introduce this programme
to assist this transition. This course has been specically
developed for this tier of staff and in particular the tier of staff
who have been mapped to the NHS Knowledge and Skills
Framework (KSF) at band 3 and 4. Many services have named the
job title of these differently including Assistant Practitioner, A&E
support etc, this is why Medipro have generically used the term
‘Ambulance Emergency Care Support Worker’.
This course will appeal to both NHS and private ambulance
services as well as individuals wishing to gain employment within
the NHS or private sector.
We are committed to providing quality educational programmes
utilising the latest evidence based practice. This course has been
approved by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh as well as
through OCN Credit for Learning level 3. This not only gives
learners a nationally recognised course but with university
credits. It is also ELCAS approved for MOD personnel.
There are no pre course requirements for this programme. It
would be advantageous to have a full UK driving licence with C1
and 5 GCSE's or equivalent to help with employment but not
essential for this course.
After successful completion of written and practical
assessments a certicate will be awarded from the Royal
College of Surgeons, Edinburgh as well as OCN Credit 4
Learning at Level 3. Although the certicates don't have a valid
period and don't require any formal refresher it is encouragedthat learners maintain a CPD portfolio and keep up to date with
current practice.

HSE OFFSHORE MEDIC REFRESHER
DISTANCE LEARNING
Course Duration: 1 to 6 month (estimate)
This HSE Offshore Medic refresher course encompasses all therequired elements from the HSE to guide you through a refresher
process, utilising a distance learning option.
It is often very difcult for medics to get the required time off to
complete their HSE Offshore Medic refresher course. This option
utilises a distance learning approach to complete 4 modules
which can be completed in your own time, at your own pace. It is
possible to complete this course over a 1 to 6 six month period.
Once all 4 modules have been completed satisfactorily you can
attend one of our 2 day skills update and assessment programme
to nalise your refresher process. Here you will refresh on all your
practical skills which include:
• Advanced Life Support Skills
• ECG recognition
• Drugs
• A chance for you to practice on any equipment you
feel is necessary
How it works:
1. Medipro post to you module books and a core reading
manual as well as a CD of relevant learning materials
2. Learners complete the written exercises within the module
book by conducting their own self-directed study and
research, then return the module to Medipro for marking
and feedback
3. Medipro then forward the next module book with feedback
until all modules are complete including 3 small structured
essays
4. Our faculty will offer both telephone and online support
throughout the process
5. The learner picks a suitable 2 day assessment course from
the available dates
6. There are NO written exams to complete on your 2 day
update/assessment day

Medipro have built strong relationships with various educationalinstitutes over the last 12 months, which include the HSE,
Northumbria University and the Royal College of Surgeons of
Edinburgh. This has not only given us a far greater understanding
of APEL processes, standards and academic credit but has
enabled us to offer a very unique portfolio of programmes.
Many of our learners who attend our courses are looking for new
employment and using education as a means to increase their
knowledge and skills to improve their employment opportunities.
This is even more so within the security and close protection
environment. As many of the larger employers have varying
entrance criteria and essential education it is often difcult for
learners to choose the right course. It is even more frustrating
when some employers require specically worded courses and
when learners attend them all, largely the content is very similar.
To assist our learners and utilise our advantage of not only having
multiple approved courses but having a greater understanding of
the education process we have developed a single programme
which will allow for multiple certicates, and is specically aimed
at the medics who wish to gain employment or increase their
skills to move to a more clinically focused role.
The course is ELCAS fundable for MOD personnel.
Learners will be required to work across some weekends.
Upon successful completion of each assessment the
following will be awarded:
• HSE Offshore Medic and OCN Offshore Medic
academic credits at level 4
• IMCA Diver Medic (IMCA award for HSE divers) all other learners will receive a Medipro DMT
• Pre Hospital Trauma Management (Royal College of
Surgeons of Edinburgh)
• Medicine in Remote Areas MIRA - (Royal College of

TACTICAL & CLOSE PROTECTION
CRITICAL CARE TRAINING (TACCCT)
This course has been developed through demand from our
learners who specically work in the close protection arena.
Although it is internationally recognised that the FPOS
intermediate is the entry standard for basic medical providers,
sometimes learners just want 'a little but more'.
Medipro's TACCCT course bridges a large gap between the
FPOS/MIRA provider and the advanced tier 2 clinician. Although
the FPOS programme that Medipro deliver is a fantastic course
and does exactly what it is intended to do, some learners not only
require more knowledge and skills but so do their patients within
the environments they work. The programme will equip learners
with a greater understanding of injuries and conditions as well as
some new additional skills that could make a difference to your
patients. Learners need to be aware this is a clinical coursefocusing on clinical knowledge and skills.
Why choose this course:
• Approved by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
• Each learner will also be awarded the IHCD FPOS

Overview
A comprehensive advanced trauma course designed to enable
the provider to respond and deal with trauma emergencies. This
Trauma Management course is ideal for all individuals who work in the Pre-Hospital arena and require an advanced level of skills

programmes like PHTLS and ITLS adopt an American system,
this is sometimes conicting with UK law, procedures and
recommendations. This is the only UK based trauma course
designed for the British clinician as it includes the
recommended practices from bodies such as JRCALC, NICE and
the Resuscitation Council. As testament to our commitment to
quality, this course has been approved by the Royal College of

Many of our courses include time spent in various placement areas, these are
designed to enhance your learning experience by getting a chance to see various
medical conditions and practice the skills that you have been taught on our
courses.
You will be mentored by a team of very experienced medical clinicians,
including Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Doctors, Specialist Doctors, and
Consultants.
All our placement areas are local to our site in the North East, they are busyNHS departments, with some being major trauma units, or centres of
cardiac expertise. The majority of our placements are practice placements,
meaning that you will not be there to merely observe what is going on, but you will be
given the opportunity to use what you have learned with us on real patients. You will
be fully insured with Medipro whilst on these practice placement areas.
Some courses that we offer automatically include a placement area, however if you are
enrolled on a course that does not include a placement and feel that you would benet
from seeing what you have learned rst hand, then please contact us with your request
and we will arrange something suitable uniquely for you.
Out of practice clinician?
Some registered clinicians fall out of practice for various reasons, and then wish to return to their
career later on. Many governing bodies require that such people demonstrate that they have
refreshed themselves not only through academic learning, but by being mentored delivering
care to particular patient groups. This can be particularly difcult for people who are no longer
employed within the NHS.
If you are a registered clinician in a situation like this then we are able to create a plan that would
benet your needs, and get you access to a variety of practice placement areas within NHS
hospitals. So that you can evidence to your governing body that you are now ready for practice
once again. Popular placement areas we have arranged in the past are Theatres (for advanced
airway management practice), Cardiac care units, and Accident
and emergency.
Please contact our ofce to discuss you needs
All placement areas are subject to an Enhanced CRB
check. No criminal conviction no matter how small is‘spent’ on these checks, however having a conviction
may not necessarily preclude you from attending, all
students are judged on an individual basis.
Spending time in a placement area can be an extremely useful way of consolidating what you
have already learned, and learning new skills from experienced practitioners.
