ECMO CONFERENCE

Dr. Venkat Goyel RVCC, MumbaiInterventional

Dear Colleagues,

ECMO Science (extra corporeal membrane oxgenation) is a passion of daredevil medics. It is the pinnacle of critical medicine where eagles dare. It gives a feel to play GOD. It really holds care a limited time when there is a sudden cardio respiratory compromise causing an impending doom of death. The entire concept is novel and state of the art in the frontiers of modern medicine. The high and low tides of emergencies that surges your adrenaline are worth experiencing. ECMO is a bridge between one life at stake to another hope of life. It really gives a second chance to live.

Dear colleagues,

ECMO is a offspring of age old extracorporeal perfusion technology. Over the years untiring efforts from all over the globe has made it more and more simple, effective and less complicated. ECMO is fusion of man and machine. Seeing ECMO for the first time was my finest exposure of a wonderful synopsis between mechanics and chemical state. The anatomy and physiology is so beautifully synchronized that I remain spellbound at the entire concept. In brief (though, after lots of practices) the blood is diverted to extracorporeal artificial heart (blood pump) and an oxygenator(artificial lungs) and returned back to the body after warming, it allows assist mode to various organs like the heart, lungs, vascular bed and kidneys. It has wide indications and new roles are adding feathers in its cap.

Dear colleagues,

It is my proud privilege to invite you to the ECMO India-2014 training course to be held in Medica Superspecialty Hospital .This is the first time this course is being organized in eastern India. Though ECMO has been performed in very few centres,it is high time to increase its scope and reach .To meet the demand we need trained personnel. Hence, a comprehensive ECMO training course is necessary.I request all present & prospective centres to send a team comprising doctors, perfusionists and nurses for training & comprehensive care of patients.
