Walton designs and develops communities places for you, your family and friends to take root and

grow. Walton is committed to a responsive, responsible, and relevant approach to land use planningand community development. Walton creates complete communities: places where people can not

only live and play, but also work close to home.

Our goal is to build sustainable communities that will stand the test of time.

There has been much conjecture regarding Walton's open discussions with the City and stakeholders

regarding a vision for the future growth of the City. Walton has been engaged in this dialogue since

2008, as reported by various media. We welcome discussions on smart growth and sustainable city-

building in Ottawa and believe Walton can be a strategic partner with the City through this process. We

look forward to continuing to participate in the Citys process and to working collaboratively with the

Citys key stakeholders to realize the potential and help shape the future of Ottawa in a positive way.

We believe the key component of a well-planned community is sustainability. To that end, we have

been an active and respectful participant in the various planning processes and dialogues over the years

on how Ottawa could grow into the future (i.e. Planning Committee, Choosing Our Future and Building a

Liveable Ottawa... centering on these opportunities).

The City has made it clear that no significant additions will be made to the urban boundary for

residential land in the short term and Walton respects that perspective.

Any proposals made to Council will be public; and to be clear, no current applications exist.

Furthermore, there is a clear, transparent and legislative process for applications for any planning and

land use approvals to which we must adhere which is clearly outlined by the Province and reiterated by

the City.

Walton is engaging the City of Ottawa in a discussion on where and how it intends to accommodate

growth in the future. Walton desires to be a thought leader for new models for community

development that create the complete, sustainable communities, and these opportunities are needed

and valued by residents.

Walton does intend to participate in the employment lands review currently under way by the City,

along with other components of the 2014 Official Plan Review. Walton believes that any additions to the

urban boundary should be based on a comprehensive vision. We look forward to studying options and

listening to views further.
