History of hip hop:

Hip hop began in poorest quarters in the Bronx located in New York among the black and Latino community. Hip hop originally developed from other music genres such as looping, rapping, beat boxing, break dancing, free styling and some criminal gang influence. All of these genres was collaborated together to make what we now know as hip hop.

In the 1960’s poets and artists such as the last poets, Gil Scott Heron and Jalal Mansur Nurriddin came together to attempt to make a new type of music. In later years it was be further developed to create hip hop.

In the 1970’s Hip Hop began to rise, one of it’s major creditors and founders was DJ Kool Herc. He like many of the other founders, developed hip hop when witnessing poetry and began to speak about it through music. This was the basis of a genre later called ‘hip hop’ which would later go on to be the most popular genre in the world.

Style Of Hip Hop:

A style within the hip hop genre is fashion and clothing. Artists within this genre tend to wear hoodies as stereotypically this type of clothing worn by males from a working class background. By the artist’s wearing similar clothing it may relate to them and cause they to listen to their music and buy their CD’s or albums. The colours of the hoodies that artists wear have mainly bright colours in order to attract the audience and make them more noticeable towards the audience and to also make the artists themselves appear more stylish.

Furthermore, artists within the hip hop genre tend to wear a lot of jewellery in order to show their wealth and status which is done to make them appear rich and successful and emotionally manipulate the target audience into thinking that if they buy their albums and listen to their music they too can have these qualities.

Artists have very short haircuts and some have beards which are trimmed short, this makes the artists appear more masculine and serious approach which will lead the audience to wanting to buy the artist music.
