Billy Martin
• Billy grew up in New Jersey and New York
• Billy plays the drums• Billy was the tacit
leader of the band in the beginning
• Influenced by Stravinsky and Gershwin
Chris Wood
• Chris was born in Pasadena, California
• He had always played many instruments but fell in love with the bass.
• Attended New England Conservatory
• The band started out as Coltrane’s Wig but renamed to Medski Martin and Wood
• Medeski Martin and Wood got started in 1991.
• Their musical style is Jazz
• Their music covers a broad range of genres, often fusing jazz with hip hop, funk, soul and rock to create danceable grooves.
