About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was
established in the year 2005 affiliated to Anna
University, Chennai and Accredited by National
Board of Accreditation (NBA), India. The Department
offers B.E., Mechanical Engineering, M.E.,
Engineering Design and Ph. D. programmes. The
Department has around 10 Research scholars, 720
Bachelor Degree and 20 Master Degree students.
Students have a variety of opportunities to interact,
investigate and work on their interested thrust areas.
The faculty members and students have authored
more than 50 research publications annually in
leading National and International journals and
conferences. Many faculty members have received
recognition in the form of awards. The alumni of this
department occupy high positions in institutions of
higher learning, research laboratories and industries
in India and abroad.
Dynamic, diverse, and motivated students are the
cornerstone and an essential part of the
department. In carefully building this, students are
trained in the following areas as a part of enhancing
skill sets.

Professional Bodies
A membership in a professional association can often be an excellent source for access to latest technology, keep up-to-date on trends in the field, and enhance individual networking, access to resource information, employment information and lifelong learning. Some of active professional bodies are:
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
SAEINDIA is an affiliate society of SAE International. It regularly plans and offers many career development activities such as industry visits, job fairs, career enhancement sessions, resume/recruitment boards, and resumes database services. Membership provides access to e-magazines, Network with industry leaders and corporate officials and provides a valuable resource for keeping pace with the rapidly changing technology in the mobility industry.
Indian Welding Society (IWS)
The members can gain knowledge in the advancement of
Welding, Cutting, Reclamation, Hard Facing and related
technologies and other allied sciences which the society
may decide from time to time.
Involving Students in Industrial Activities
We believe that we create leaders and leaders have more to them than academic process.
Field visits, Industrial visits, inplant training, vocational training and project internships are being arranged to the students of first, second, third and final years to expose them to the real industrial activities.
