Metric Conversion Steps

1. Locate the known metric unit prefix on the metric stairs.

2. Locate the unknown metric unit prefix to which you want to convert the known metric unit.

3. Count the number of times you would put your foot down on a new step if you moved on the steps from the known metric unit prefix to the unknown metric unit prefix.

4. Did you go left or right on the metric stairs?

5. Move the decimal (.) the number of steps you took, in the direction you went, in the known number, and you now have converted to the unknown metric unit number.
