The lawn behind Springs 15 on 27 March was a hub of community fun and activity as the venue for two highly-anticipated annual events: the Emaar Garden Competition 2015 award ceremony and the Emirates Living Market Day.

Over 4,000 residents participated in this combined community event which featured a variety of entertainment and activities for both kids and adults. Besides the vendor tables, attractions such as bouncy castles, activity stalls, arts & crafts corners, giant games, mini football field, wrecking ball, music and a wide choice of food and snacks kept everyone entertained, engaged and happy.

The highlight of the event was the Emaar Garden Competition award ceremony where winners from the two participating communities, Arabian Ranches and Emirates Living, were presented with customised crystal trophies and gift vouchers.

All the old notice boards in the community have been replaced and two new notice boards have been added to Meadows 1 and Meadows 9 beside the lakes. The new notice boards are of better quality and aesthetically more attractive. So the next time you’re passing a notice board, please take a moment to read the message.

Take notice

The Automated Access Control System (AACS) project work is underway and access cards will be distributed when the project is completed and commissioned. Following this, a call for applications will be made in the second quarter of 2015. The new access cards will be handed over to residents at no cost. However, a replacement cost would be charged for lost or damaged cards. Please be aware, that as per the standard access policy, access cards will not be issued to villas with outstanding service fees or an unresolved Notice of Violation.

AACS coming soon

Al Asayel Street isgetting greenGet ready for a greener view on Al Asayel Street with the completion of landscape beautification. Planting at Springs 11 and 14 is complete and the contractor is currently installing irrigation lines at Springs 4, 5 and 6. We expect to wrap up the project in early April.

Tree trialA trial project for a potential landscaping design upgrade is underway at Meadows 5, Street 3. The tree pits between the roundabout and the park have been replanted so the design now alternates between Delonix regia and Pongamia glabra trees. Pongamia glabra is a new addition to the Meadows streetscape and the species has a lush look with glossy green foliage and a thick canopy that provides shade. This change was made at the request of the Interim Board members after a review with our Landscaping Team. The area will now be carefully observed and growth and performance of the new trees will be monitored. If this trial project proves successful, expansion to other areas of The Meadows will be considered.

New, shiny and smooth number plates will decorate your villa entrance soon. Procurement is in the final stage for planned replacement of all The Meadows villa number plates. The design and material have been modified slightly to ensure durability and to avoid rapid fading in the harsh sunlight. Based on feedback from Interim Board members, number plates on Hattan-type villas will be repainted rather than replaced with new ones.

Finding your way from point A to point B in Dubai just got a whole lot easier with the introduction of Makani, the official geo-addressing system. Meaning “my location” in Arabic, the 10 digit number provides an accurate location to all buildings and villas in Dubai.

The new system will be used by all government organisations, police, ambulance services, corporate organisations, residents and tourists. Accurate to one square metre, Makani is available on all smartphones, tablets and GPS devices.

Here’s how you can use it:

• Visit makani.ae or download the “Makani Dubai” application from GooglePlay (Android store) or the AppStore (iPhones)• Enter the Makani number in the search field of the page or in the app to find the location/route to your location

Makani will then show you the shortest possible route to your destination.

Safer roads with new speed humps

Floored with rubber

Fancy a gameof hoops?

No more sandy piles in the grass anymore. We have completed the interlock tiling around the kids’ play area in Meadows 8 park. The same work is in progress in Meadows 9 and we are expecting the project to be completed in the beginning of April.

The streets are safer now with the installation of new speed humps at Meadows 9 Street 2 and Street 3.

This will cause vehicles entering the four-way intersection to slow down, so priority is given to vehicles coming from Street 1.

We encourage all residents to practise safe driving at all times in the best interests of the community.

Avid basketball players will soon have the opportunity to shoot a few every day with the soon-to-open international-size basketball court in Meadows 2. The contractor has mobilised and the work has begun. The project will be completed by mid May.

You can now enjoy a dust-free soft surface when you use the fitness equipment in Meadows 1, with the replacement of the previous sand surface with rubberised flooring. Besides the functional benefits, the area looks refurbished and aesthetically pleasing.
