MDNYC TRACKSLOVE GOD, LOVE KIDS, SEEK JUSTICE

Room Original Sanctuary

Lead Daniel Sanabria, Dr. Dave Rahn, Eric Kelly &Barrell Richardson

Host Youth for Christ

This breakout session will inspire you with a vision for working with kids in the juvenile justice system, as well as equip you with the knowledge and tools to be effective at ministering to high-risk kids across the city. Our desire is to form deep and lasting ministry relationships with local church leaders, so together we can reach incarcerated young people with the love and truth of Jesus when they are inside facilities and continue walking with them in post-release mentoring relationships when they get out.

MDNYC TRACKSBRINGING THE WORD OF GOD TO THE WORLD OF GOD

Room Fellowship Hall

Lead Mac Pier, Bob Doll & Katherine Barnhart

Host Every Tribe Every Nation

New York City has 800 languages spoken, the most in the world. Through an emerging relationship with Every Tribe Every Nation we will consider the possibilities of creating a 100 church collaboration to engage Bible less peoples. Faculty including Katherine Barnhart, Bob Doll, Mullery Jean Pierre, Dave Beidel and others will present. Each attendee gets to shape our strategy.

08

MDNYC TRACKSTHE BIBLE AND THE CITY: TACKLING SKEPTICISM INTHE URBAN CORE

Room Berean Room

Lead Enid Almanzar

Host American Bible Society

Studies show that millennials are leaving the church in droves yet most feel ill equipped to re-engage this increasingly skeptical part of their communities. Through a powerful partnership with Google, we’re now able to see how this generation thinks, what they care about and how we can best address their needs. Join us as we explore both the latest data on skeptics in New York and best practices from city leaders successfully engaging the next generation.

09

MDNYC TRACKSWORSHIP THAT WORKS: UNPACKING THE POWERFULCONNECTION OF MONDAY WORK W/SUNDAY WORSHIP

Room Classroom 250

Lead Dr. Chip Roper

Host VOCA Center

What have Sunday and Monday to do with each other? What can pastors do to prepare their people for the realities of the marketplace? What can Christians in the Marketplace glean from church to equip them for the world they enter on the job?

Dr. Chip Roper hosts Reverend Matt Brown of Resurrection Brooklyn and select guests to explore these questions.

10

MDNYC TRACKSREACHING, RAISING, AND RETAINING MILLENNIALS

Room Classroom 243

Lead Grant Skeldon & Al Miyashita

Host Initiative Network, The Navigators

Parents are trying to raise them. Pastors are trying to reach them. Business leaders are trying to retain them. What if we don’t have a millennial problem, but rather a discipleship problem? This breakout will focus on what discipling millennials in the 21st century looks like.

11

MDNYC TRACKSMISSIONAL MINISTRY MILLENNIALS

Room Classroom 238

Lead Trygve Johnson

Host Hope College

This breakout will offer a cultural diagnostic of some of the cultural forces shaping today’s college age students, or millennials, and then offering theological antidotes that invite a renewed missional imagination to shaping a positive vision for the future. Understanding millennials is essential for the church and for business leaders, because they will soon be tomorrow’s leaders, who will be charged to lead, steward, and form future faith communities, economies, institutions, and the common good. Learn how we can better understand and serve this important group of young adults in our churchs, schools, and places of work.

12

MDNYC TRACKSA NEXT-GENERATION MOVEMENT

Room Chapel

Lead Jensy Acosta & John Ginnan

Host Youth Pastors Fellowship

Leadership is about empowering others. So, ultimately youth ministry should be about youth in ministry. How do we shape the next generation to be part of the movement? Together we will look at shaping this newest generation in each of four discipleship contexts: small groups, one-to-one mentorship, social media and finally, campus ministry. In this interactive session, urban youth ministry veterans will frame and facilitate short discussions among all attendees and close by taking questions from the audience in a panel format.

13

MDNYC TRACKSSTRESS & THE MINISTRY

Room Classroom 239

Lead Dr. Pete Sulack

Host

As ministry leaders you do not only carry the burdens of your family, but also the people you serve. 2 Kings 5:1 says, “King Naaman was a mighty man of valor, but he had leprosy.” So often, as ministry leaders, it's easy to keep our armor on and keep fighting and neglect the pain that is under the armor.

Dr. Pete Sulack is considered “America's leading stress expert,” with over 1 million patient visits from around the world and shares his secrets to creating a life that is resilient to the stressors that we face every day.
