Brand Panel Lighting, Backlighting, and Bulbs/Lamps
All units use a fluorescent tube lamp with ballast to light brand panels and dial faces. Various configurations (lamp sizes, location, etc.) exist for each model.
Service Tips• Flickering fluorescent tubes cause many operational problems, including lockups or may
slow communication loop.. Replace lamp or ballast.• If known good lamp does not light and ballast has power, replace the ballast.• If replacement light or ballast is not available, take out bulb and disconnect A1 wire or
take out ballast and cap wires.• Be sure shielding is re-installed, if used. Shielding stops RF noise.

Replacing Lamps And BallastsRead and follow all safety precautions as outlined in the “Read This First” section pages 1-3 through 1-10 and at the start of this section. Use OSHA Tag-Out and Lock-Out procedures.
1 Turn power off to unit and associated STPs.
2 Access the lamps and/or ballasts. For Highline™ models remove column sheathing to access ballast.
3 Remove lamp by twisting and then releasing it from the lamp sockets. Place new lamp into sockets and twist in place. Always replace broken or cracked light sockets.
4 Disconnect ballast from circuit by removing wire nuts from ballast wire ends. Label wire ends as you remove nuts. The ballast attaches to the unit with nuts and bolts (studs). Remove hardware, then the ballast. Place new ballast in position and secure with hardware. Connect it to the circuit with wire nuts. (See wiring diagrams in this manual to verify connections.) Some of The Advantage® units do not have a ballast assembly. These units use complete lamp/ballast/starter assemblies. See illustrations below.

Electronic Components Power Supplies
T19706 Power Supply (Main)The T19706-G1 power supply is used in The Advantage® Series models built after July 1997, except The Advantage 4X4 production units built after July 1997 and The Advantage with Optimized Electronics. The Advantage with Optimized Electronics use T19706-G2. The -G1 and -G2 power supplies are not interchangeable.
These power supplies combine the main and CRIND™ power supplies to supply 115VAC primary voltage to the Monochrome/InfoScreen backlights, Cash Acceptor and InfoScreen power supplies but do not supply 115VAC to the InfoScreen heater. They also supply secondary voltages to the CRIND main regulator board, regulator/interface board (optimized electronics), Card Reader and Monochrome heaters. T19706-G1 is a direct replacement for T16513-G8 and also a replacement for T16513-G7 by installing kit K94441-01. For The Advantage 4X4, power supply T16513-G8 is replaced by kit K94434-01.
