    With more than 20 years

experience, Texas Instruments isan industry leader in RFID

    technology and the worlds largest

    integrated manufacturer of TI-RFID

tags, TI-RFID smart inlays and TI-

    RFID reader systems. With more

    than 1billion RFID tags

    manufactured, TI-RFID technology

is used in a broad range of RFID

    applications worldwide.

    The radio waves are generated

    by the readers antenna.

A tag in the RF field uses energy from the radio

waves to respond to the readers commands

    Radio Waves

Radio signals are electromagnetic waves, having a magnetic

component (H-Field) and an electric component (E-Field)

LF & HF systems use the Magneticfield to transfer power by

    induction

Strength of this field falls off quickly

Liquids have less of an effect on H-Field

UHF systems use the Electricfield to transferpower by capacitive coupling

Strength of this field doesnt fall off as quickly

which provides potentially longer read distances

Liquids absorb E-field and reduce performance

Metals either shield signals or detune the inlays Special metal mount tags are typically required

    ELECTRIC (E)FIELD

    MAGNETIC (H)FIELD
