Today’s economy makes it hard for people to balance home life and work.

Fixing labor laws to allow parents to work easier from home and promote telework.

Allowing portable healthcare so struggling workers don’t remain in a dead-end job solely for the fear that they will lose healthcare for themselves and the ones they love.

Ronald Reagan said nobody ever washed a rental car. And that's true in health insurance. If they're responsible for it, then they will take more care of it.

Shift the emphasis from employer insurance to that bought by individuals.-Give $5000 to families, $2500 to individuals.

-Dedicate more federal research to curing chronic diseases

-Zero tolerance policy towards Medicare and Medicaid fraud

Page 4: Mccain Economics

Policies will increase value of the dollar His cap-and-trade system is gradual,

unlike Obama’s which is too drastic. Provides monetary incentives for

corporations to lower emissions. Believes in an even- handed system of

tax credits that will remain in place until renewable energy has reached the point where it is competitive with conventional energy sources.

-According to the Department of Energy, wind could provide as much as one-fifth of electricity by 2030. The U.S. solar energy industry continues its double-digit annual growth rate in 2008

Create thousands of jobs in construction and maintenance.

Better strategy than Obama’s windfall tax.

By giving tax breaks heavily to middle class, Obama would actually hurt economy.

While this is a generalization, most people will simply spend the tax breaks that Obama hands out, wasting what they should be saving.

On the surface, tax breaks for corporations seem like a bad idea

In actuality: they increase competitiveness, lowering prices for everybody, and saving Americans money in the long term rather than short term

Low individual tax rates - sole-proprietorships, partnerships, landlords and others are taxed under the individual income tax.

Enhancing international competitiveness to keep jobs here; not abroad.

Yes, Obama isn’t the only one planning to reduce offshoring.

-Eliminate broken government programs. The federal government itself admits that one in five programs do not perform.

-Reform our civil service system to promote accountability and good performance in our federal workforce.

Comprehensive spending controls. Bi-partisan efforts will be the key to

undoing the recent spending binge, as was successful in the late 90s.

In the long-term, the only way to keep the budget balanced is successful reform of the large spending pressures in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.“

"Why can't I just eat my waffle?" --after being asked a foreign policy question by a reporter while visiting a diner in Pennsylvania
