YEAR 1 – INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP

Managing in the International Context

Improve your ability to evaluate current situations and

trends by studying the history of traditions and transitions in

management thinking. This module introduces the general

thesis of globalisation and explores the contemporary

factors and issues related to management at an international

level, focusing on cultural, institutional and socio-political

determinants.

Corporate Finance

Nearly every important business decision, from structuring

a new venture to expanding an international office, requires

a solid understanding of corporate finance. This module will

introduce you to the evaluation frameworks and skills needed

to make effective, informed decisions about all financial

aspects of today’s corporations.

Market Orientation and Customer Focus

Putting customers first isn’t just a marketing maxim—the most

successful organisations are truly market-driven and build

their strategies around a customer focus. In this module, you’ll

examine why it pays to be market-driven and learn how to

effectively understand your market, analyse competencies,

make strategic choices, deliver value to customers and

measure marketing effectiveness.

Global and International Economic Issues

Today’s business environment is a global one, so understanding international economic issues is essential for success. This module provides an overview of the implications of globalisation for the Irish and EU economies, the rise and slow-down of emerging economies and the impact of

commodity prices and the current ‘oil glut’.

or

Corporate Strategic Analysis

Understanding the purpose and formulation of corporate

strategy is fundamental to organisational success. In

this module, you’ll acquire the understanding, tools and

frameworks needed to examine and deconstruct corporate

strategies, and discover why only the best succeed.

Strategic Human Resource Management

Want to build and sustain competitive advantage? You’ll

need to first understand the links between strategy, business

performance and human resource management. This module

explores these links along with important elements of

successful human resource strategies, such as organisational

development, talent management, performance management,

learning and employee engagement.

Information and Knowledge Management

The interconnected and digital nature of business today has

led to new organisational structures and a need for adaptive

management styles. This module focuses on the value of these

new structures and their origins as a result of the digitization

of work, products, services and even community in the modern

network economy.

Relationship Marketing

Relationship marketing considers business from the point of

view of interactive relationships and networks. The module

explores models of relationship development, relationship

success variables and the sustainable competing advantages

that accrue.

or

Airline Finance and Ground Operations

YEAR 2 – SUMMER

Implementing Strategy

Put analysis into action in this module, which builds on the

foundation of Corporate Strategic Analysis. You’ll learn to

engage theoretically and practically with the organisational

and environmental realities that shape, enable and restrict

the successful implementation and adoption of corporate

strategies.

Strategic Leadership

Thoughtful, effective leadership begins by understanding the

nature of people, relationships and situations. As there’s no one

way to lead across every situation, we take a holistic approach

to building leadership capabilities. Through case studies,

dialogue, coaching and self-assessment, you’ll expand your

ideas of leadership and deepen your awareness of your own

abilities and strengths.

Creativity, Innovation and

Entrepreneurship Management

If creative thinking and innovation produce new business

opportunities, it’s strategy, analysis and planning that make

them possible. With the techniques, analysis and decision-

making skills you gain in this module, you’ll be ready to create

and explore new venture opportunities while encouraging

innovative and enterprising behaviour.

The Strategic Management of Projects:

Science and Principles

The management of projects and programmes can create

significant challenges. This module examines current best

practice frameworks and emerging theories in this regard

at both an operational and a strategic level.

Management Thesis/Project

A significant thesis/project is started in the summer

period between Years 1 and 2, developed during

the second year and completed for submission the

autumn following conclusion of the taught element

of the MBA programme. We appreciate that a thesis

can be challenging and demanding. To help, we

provide extra support where needed including extra

lunchtime tutorials on thesis writing and one-to-one

coaching in Year 2.
