RYAN ABRAHAMBartley cohort

I have worked at Independence Blue Cross, since 2010. As a Sr. Financial Analyst, I work mainly with cash flow and membership forecasting for the Ancillary Products lines as well as for any M&A activity. I am also a founding partner in an Internet startup company, Lifepages.com. I like to stay active

outside of work by participating in social sport leagues such as ice hockey, boccee and softball. I also like to compete in charitable 5k and 5mile races. My undergraduate degree is a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Shippensburg, 2005. t

MELISSA BAUCOCenter City cohort

I currently work as an account manager at Hay Group, a global human resources consulting firm, in Center City Philadelphia. At Hay Group, my clients are Human Resources professionals mainly at chemicals and energy companies, and I ensure they are happy with and well-trained on our products. My bachelor’s degree is in Hotel,

Restaurant and Institutional Management from the University of Delaware, where I also received a minor in Spanish Studies. Previously I worked in the hospitality field in restaurants, hotels and even a catering hall, but I ultimately decided that I lacked the passion to give up all my nights, weekends and holidays for the rest of my life, so I decided to pursue a different path. I love to travel, and have spent extensive amounts of time in Spain; first studying abroad, and then teaching English. I also am very active, and spend lots of time each week running, biking around the city, doing yoga or going to the gym. Once I receive my MBA, I either hope to move into a consulting role at Hay Group, or I hope to re-enter the hospitality field as an HR professional in the corporate headquarters of a hotel group. t

CHRISTOPHER ABTCenter City cohort

I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2007 with a BS in Criminal Justice and International Relations. Immediately following graduation I was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS MONTEREY CG 61 in Norfolk, Virginia. During my

time onboard I served as First Lieutenant from July 2007 to July 2009 and then as Fire Control Officer until I departed in July 2012. Following the MONTEREY, I spent a year assigned to the United States Sixth Fleet based out of Naples, Italy where I worked with USN, NATO, and partner nations on missile defense. Currently, I am stationed at AEGIS Technical Representative in Moorestown, New Jersey as the Combat Systems department head. I am married to Anna Abt, currently pursuing a doctorate in neuroscience at Drexel University. t

MICHAEL BLISARDBartley cohort

I have worked as an Aerospace Engineer at Greene Tweed since August of 2008, after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a mechanical engineering degree. My main job function includes seal and bearing design for landing gears, engines, and various actuators on

commercial and military aircraft. I also evaluate parts from service and testing, review material specifications, and approve engineering drawings. With an MBA degree I hope to advance my career within the Aerospace field as a manager or some other leadership capacity. I am originally from the Philadelphia suburb of Havertown. I am a proud alumnus of St. Joseph’s Prep. I am a complete Philadelphia sports fanatic, which is all too often depressing (see Eagles vs. Bucks, last game at the Vet). I was married to my beautiful wife, Victoria on May 29, 2011. We currently live in Springfield. t

I am from Princeton, NJ and have a Bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Pittsburgh’s Business School. I began my career with Vanguard in 2008 in an accelerated, one year rotational, financial program. Upon completion on the program, I spent over two years valuing and

pricing Vanguard’s funds based on all equity holdings. In this role, I led projects that greatly improved the efficiency and accuracy of Vanguard’s valuation methodology. In 2011, I leveraged my strong communication, client-first mentality and leadership skills and joined Flagship® to serve high-net worth clients ($1MM+ of investable assets). My role as a Relationship Associate allows me to develop and manage client relationships while employing a consultative approach to identify, articulate and align product solutions with each strategic goal and investment objective. My outside interests include volunteering in the community, traveling, playing sports and spending time with my family and friends. t

I grew up in southwestern

PA, in a small town called Charleroi about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. I love to travel, read and explore the city with my boyfriend, friends and family. I transitioned to my current role as a Financial Analyst at NRG Energy in March 2013. At NRG, I work as part of the East Region Asset Management group, which is responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s fleet of power plants in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Before Tangent, I studied at Penn State where I graduated with a BS in Energy Business and Finance. Throughout my undergrad career, I held several internship positions, including roles at Drugstore.com and General Motors. I am pursuing my MBA to gain a broader understanding of various business functions, to sharpen my strategic acumen and to strengthen my finance “chops.” I also hope to improve my oral communication skills. Outside of work and school, I like to golf and run – since beginning the MBA program, I have run the Philly Rock and Roll Half-Marathon and the Broad Street Run. I enjoy listening to live music and occasionally I play instruments for fun. I am a craft beer enthusiast and I love grilling-out. t
