Dental cleanings are designed to remove plaque and tartar deposits that have built up on your teeth over time, like barnacles on a boat!

Plaque is a soft, sticky film that contains millions of bacteria. Old plaque that isn’t brushed away properly hardens into tartar.

The bacteria found in plaque cause gum disease and tooth decay if not removed by daily brushing and flossing, as well as routine trips to the dentist.

That’s why regular dental cleanings are such important preventative measures. It’s recommended to get regular teeth cleanings at the dentist at least every 6 months.
