Chief Architects

Initially designed and built by the Cretan architect Chresiphron and his son Metagenes.

Metagenes continued his fathers works as well as other architects that helped restore it.

Specific Contributions?

The Temple in its beauty and awesomeness attracted people such as merchants and worshipers and even kings!

The temple helped boost trade in turkey and it was seen as a symbol of faith to many people.

People contributed to filling the temple with lavish articles such as statues and golden or shiny items to adorn the temple to honor the Greek goddess.

Was it ahead of its time?

I don’t think it was ahead of its time it was just a very grandiose building compared to all the other buildings at that time.

Great or Overrated?

Well personally I don’t like underestimating things that mean a lot to people, and to many people Artemis was very important in their lives so this temple was an appreciation of her greatness; And to me, it was quite beautiful and great in its time. :)
