FROM THE AUXILIARY PRESIDENT

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all

of the Unit 163 Auxiliary members that have

worked so hard during this Auxiliary year to make

life better, in so many ways, for our veterans, their

families, our children and our community. My

term as president has been successful because of

the teamwork and united effort put forth by our

active and involved members. A very special thank you to Commander

Mark Johnson, for his spirit of cooperation during the past year.

It is impossible to list all of the wonderful dreams that have become

realities for those we serve. When you’re at Post 163, please look at

detailed information on the bulletin board.

Unit election for officers for the 2015-2016 Auxiliary year will take

place on May, 14th during our regularly scheduled meeting. Please re-

member that being a member means attending meetings all during the

year and not just on election nights. After elections are held, please

make every effort possible to support the newly elected officers by par-

ticipating in YOUR Unit.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you for the oppor-

tunity to serve as your Unit 163 President.

Ann King-Smith

Auxiliary President

FROM THE S. A. L. COMMANDER

Good day from Squadron #163. Hope all is well with

our members and there families.

There are a couple of dates coming up we all need to

be aware of. May 3rd is our meeting. We will be hold-

ing our officer elections for the upcoming 2015 - 2016

year. We hope you will all show up and vote for your

favorite candidate as these are the people that will be running our

squadron for the next year. Next on the list of dates is... Actually before,

May 2nd is our annual “Hog Roast” for S.A.L. this is always a big if not

the biggest event for our squadron for the year. It is also combined with

The Legion elections and “Running of the Roses”, so please if you can

spare any time, now is the time to come down and help. It’s going to be

a busy, busy day. Next up - May 23rd is Awards Night with a refresh-

ment buffet to follow.

As far as membership goes... We are at 87.50%. If you have not re-

newed yet, you are very late. Next year’s cards will be here in June.

Please, please renew now, we need it.

Watch your calendars for up and coming “Sons of Karaoke” shows.

Come on out and support us and sing a few songs. It’s always fun.

Remember: our meetings are at 4:00pm on the first Sunday of every

month

Page 6: May/June 2015 8 - American LegionUPCOMING EVENTS MAY/JUNE 2015 5/2/2015 Legion Elections 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM 5/2/2015 S.A.L. Hog Roast & Running of the Roses 3 PM - 8 PM $9.00 5/2/2015

FROM THE A.L.R. DIRECTOR

It is election time again! Nominations have been

completed and the next phase is for YOU to come

and vote for the officers you want to take us through

the upcoming year. Remember that if you do not

vote you leave control of the outcome to others.

During the month of May and June the Riders will

be doing day trips to Lake Okeechobee and other points of interest

along with another Road Captain class. Watch for more information on

these events at our general meetings and in our weekly newsletter.

As the weather continues to become warmer, Poker Runs have started

to increase in number and our Post is being asked more often to be a

stop on these runs. Stop by when you see a run using our Post and give

a friendly welcome to the participants. A warm welcome brings them

back and brings in new members.

As we come closer to the rainy season quick showers pop up with lit-

tle or no prior signs, remember to check over your equipment and re-

place any worn or broken items. It just may prevent an emergency!

Chapter 163 has weekly rides from the Post, leaving at 1000 Saturday

mornings and usually lasting 3 to 4 hours, covering a distance of be-

tween 100 to 150 miles. Check our weekly email newsletter for special

destinations. Our rides are open to all, just show up and join in!

Ride Safe.
