Writing With Symbols 2000

A word processing program that provides concrete symbols to the written word.

Just type a word and a symbol will appear.

WWS 2000 has voice output as well!

There are over 8,000 symbols which include both PCS & Rebus.

The symbols come in color and black and white. The color of the Rebus symbols can be changed.

You can write stories with text only.

You can write stories with symbols only.

To change from symbol to text mode, just click on the “picture” icon or press F10.

Click on picture icon to

toggle to text mode.

You can write stories with symbols and then remove the pictures and have text only. In addition, symbol stories can be exported as text only.

Text stories can be imported and symbols will automatically appear over words.

You can mix the text/symbol feature to create:

worksheets, calendars, schedules, literacy activities, and more.

WWS 2000 has a spell checking feature that can be turned on or off.

Spell check with auditory and visual prompts.

Spell check using words and/or symbols.

Write stories with symbols either over or under the words.

Change the position of the symbols any time you wish.

Cycle through symbols by pressing F12.

It’s easy to remove an associated word by pressing F11 and adding another word.

WWS 2000 will remember the change until program is closed.

Add digital pictures to WWS 2000.

Any .bmp or .wmf file can be added to existing libraries.

Sound files (.wav) can be added as well.

WWS 2000 documents can be made using a single window or a grid.

Each square in the grid can be programmed differently.

Grid can send text to a writing area. This allows user to write a story.

EnvironmentsEnvironments are sets of premade, on-screen windows.

Students write by clicking on-screen symbols or words.

Setups can be saved for future use.

EnvironmentsIn an environment, windows can be turned into a “send” window.Anything in a “send” window will transfer to the writing area when the word or picture is selected. “Send” windows usually have a light yellow background.

Environments are great for students who have trouble with writing or keyboarding skills.

This environment is a grocery list. After the items are selected, a copy of the list can be printed out and taken to the store.

Misspelled words will not display a picture and are marked with a box.
