FURTHER INFORMATION

WHAT TO BRING

Pack for a normal weekend away but then add spare clothes and warm socks (wool or polypropylene). You’ll also need an old pair of training shoes or a pair of wetsuit boots for water activities. (Woollen socks with old training shoes are just as warm as wetsuit boots and no less comfortable). You might need a couple of clothes changes a day if the weather is unkind, so make sure you don’t skimp on warm tops.

Watersports dress usually conforms to a

standard pattern

- A wetsuit with one or two layers of long sleeved

warm clothing on top, worn over a swimsuit.

- Old training shoes worn over wool socks

or wetsuit boots

- A waterproof anorak appropriate to

the activity is recommended.

Over the years we have had sunshine, rain and snow

in almost equal amounts during the May Long Weekend,

so make sure you prepare for good weather as well

as bad. Sunblock should be an essential item on

everyone’s kit list, so pack the waterproof type

and keep your fingers crossed!

Firbush will provide a bed with duvet and fitted sheet,

but don’t forget to bring your own soap, shampoo and

other toiletries, together with a couple of towels. If your

course is based at the Centre there are facilities for

making tea and coffee at lunchtime, but if your activity

involves travel from Firbush you might wish to bring

your own thermos flask which you can fill in the morning.

Specialist equipment (buoyancy, wetsuits, shell clothing,

etc.) is provided for all courses.
