With great enthusiasm I announce that our Learn2Work (L2W) ministry center in the heart of the university district in Phnom Penh is up and running! 60 students are receiving free instruction in computers and English. Heck, we even have several Buddhist monks now receiving training and attending our outreach events! Along with vocational training, L2W students enjoy coming to our Saturday afternoon social events where, among other things, there is worship and sharing about Jesus. L2W is popular and growing. Through it many are being loved and are learning about Jesus and Christianity—some for the first time.

Greg became Beau when he was adopted by a family in Philadelphia on February 15. Beau’s dad was deployed to Dubai on his adoption date but was home in time to meet him and join the mini-reunion in Philadelphia mentioned on page four.

Our fourth adoption—baby Marian—has a rather unique story. Her family lives near Harmony House in China and visited HH as volunteers. When they met Marian it was a case of love at first sight. She was adopted on April 5, and as a Langfang resident, will likely grow-up visiting Harmony House often.

Tanya was also adopted on February 22, becoming Joanna to her Forever Family from Beavercreek, Ohio. Her mama, Amanda, discovered she was at Harmony House when she attended a service where John was speaking at—drum roll, please—First Baptist Kettering, aka God’s Favorite Church! (see Jan-Feb issue). Looking at the pictures John had on the table of children needing sponsors, Amanda was amazed and delighted to see the baby girl to whom they were matched—little Tanya!

Little sweetheart Jill joined her Forever Family in Redlands, CA, on February 22, and was given the name Brooklynn. In her 7 months with us, her intelligence and quiet, sweet nature endeared her to children and nannies alike. Redlands is not far from our offices in Temecula, so maybe we will get to see Brooklynn from time to time!

Prayers for

Lily, Ratha, PK & Sophany at Forbidden City.

Prayers are needed for Ratha, the young Cambodian with the life-threatening heart condition. He is now in Beijing to have a specialist at FuWai Hospital perform the complicated surgery. Our prayers are for smooth surgery and then glowing health so that he can fulfill his life’s goal of becoming a pastor.

Marlene came to us near her eighth birthday having suffered both physical and mental developmental delays. Now she is mobile and studies with the other children in school, reading and writing. She has a rare, but surgically correctible, problem that prevents her from fully raising her eyelids. Named for our friend and ministry partner Marlene Molewyck of Grand

Rapids, Michigan, Marlene is waiting for her Forever Family.

Little Julie’s special needs include both meningocele and hydrocephalus, both of which were surgically corrected before she came to us in March at about 3½ years of age. Her mobility is good although her leg still shows effects of the meningocele. Named for our friend Julie Pruitt of Hong Kong, intelligent and loving Julie is waiting for her Forever Family.

George, coming to us at age 6, may have slight autism—or he may just have been traumatized. It was reported to us that George did not speak at all. Nevertheless, since coming to Harmony House on March 10, he has begun to interact with the children, speaking to them and also answering his nannies’ simple questions. He is learning from his teacher and has begun to read. He is an excellent artist but has had to learn the walls are not his canvas! Named for another pastor—George Ford of Baytown, Texas—George is waiting for his Forever Family.

Just as soon as a child is adopted from Harmony House, we kiss them goodbye and then welcome in a new child who likewise needs our intervention.

Handsome little Chad came to us March 10 from Guangdong Province. Born September 15, 2014, his physical development appears normal for an 18-month old. Examinations of his throat, head, heart and hearing revealed nothing, but so far Chad does not speak. He is named for our friend, pastor Chad Keck of First Baptist Kettering. When the Kecks recently adopted their second HH child, they named him John in honor of John Bentley. John felt that left him no choice but to retaliate, naming our newest little boy Chad....

Third Chicago Adoption Reunion July 29-30 What can be better than reuniting Lily with her former “babies” and their families? Everyone wins during this blessed time of fun and fellowship. If you haven’t received notices about the reunion, email [email protected] right away to give us your correct address and to get details. Last time there were over 120 in attendance, and it was both a blessing and a blast! This year we expect even more to attend. C U in Chicago!

SAIGON MISSION TRIP - SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 9

MINI-REUNION IN PHILLYby John Bentley 12 MORE GIRLS RESCUED FROM

TRAFFICKING IN CAMBODIAby John Bentley

Oh team! You guys are just the MOST! In our last newsletter we mentioned the plan to double the number of girls rescued from trafficking at Esther’s House in Phnom Penh. The home and staff are in place but there was a problem—only two bathrooms were insufficient for a house full of girls plus staff. $3,000 was all we needed to build a new bathroom/shower facility on the property, allowing EH to double the number of girls they take in. I am very happy to report that all of the funds needed for this project have come in and have been sent to Cambodia! Construction won’t take long, and in very short order 12 more young girls will be transferred from exploitation into a loving Christian home run by Mark and Jessica Neitz. Pretty cool when you remember that Jesus said in Matt 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

In April I was on the East Coast sharing at churches in New York and New Jersey. Since I was in the neighborhood, Harmony adoptive parent Yih-Pai Lotz organized a mini-reunion of five local area adoptive families who all met in Philadelphia. This is one of the great fringe benefits of my work—getting to meet our adoptive families and have reunions with peanuts who started their lives in China and are now living all across the U.S. and the world. None of these families had previously attended a Harmony reunion, so it was extra-special for me to meet them for the first time. And while the parents were eating Chinese food, the kids were playing and getting re-acquainted with their fellow Harmony House alumni. It was a sweet day for all.

Be part of Harmony’s first-ever mission adventure to Saigon, Vietnam this fall! Beautiful, tropical Saigon is one of my favorite cities in the world. We will be working with the underground church, visiting orphans, and taking a two-day cruise on the Mekong River.

Q: Don’t Vietnamese hate Americans because of the Vietnam War?

A: Nope. They really like us!They are so excited we are coming! What a solemn privilege it is to go as Jesus’ ambassadors of love and friendship to our Vietnamese brothers and sisters. Contact Linda-Mac at (951) 600-4474 to reserve your spot or send an email to [email protected].
