“Y EA” Exhibit Canceled

During the month of April, students cre-

ated painted “Relief Sculptures” using

paper mache and tempera paint.

A “Relief Sculpture” is a piece of art-

work that has areas or objects (in this

project : suns and trees) that project off of

a flat surface (a painted landscape).

Materials Used: Tempera Paint, News-

paper, Crayon, Masking Tape, Paper Tow-

els, White Glue, Drawing Paper and Tissue

Paper.

I am sad to report that the Young Emerging Artists show, organized by the Dutchess Day

School (Millbrook, NY), has been canceled this year. I received the news from Allison M, the

event’s organizer, a few days ago. She reassures me that the YEA show will be back in 2014.

As many of you may remember, the YEA exhibit allows student artists, from many of the sur-

rounding school districts, to show their creations to family and community members. ACA stu-

dents have been involved with the show for the past four years and there has always been an

amazing response. I am eagerly looking forward to it’s return next year!
