Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

As we celebrate the 53rd World Communications Day, the theme chosen by our Holy Father comes from St Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, “We are members of one another” (Eph 4:25), From Network Communities to Human Communities.

In his message for World Communications Day, Pope Francis references the internet and the “communities” formed by the various models of social communication. The Pope invites us to model ourselves on the original “network”, the Holy Trinity. “This is the network we want, a network created not to entrap, but to liberate, to protect a communion of people who are free. The Church herself is a network woven together by Eucharistic communion, where unity is based not on “likes”, but on the truth, on the “Amen”, by which each one clings to the Body of Christ, and welcomes others (Vatican, January 24, 2019).

On the weekend of May 11th & 12th the diocese will have a special collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). Half of the CCC collection will fund the national communication efforts of the U.S. Bishops. The remainder funds our diocesan communications projects like the television Mass, the Florida Catholic newspaper, our diocesan website, electronic newsletters, and various forms of social media.

Our special collection On May 11 & 12 also supports Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., the national university of the Catholic Church. As the only institution of higher education in the U.S. founded by our bishops and chartered by the Vatican, the university educates clergy, religious, and lay faithful from across the nation.

Because of your support of the CCC and Catholic University collections, millions of faithful will have the opportunity to deepen their faith through media resources and Catholic education.

With gratitude for your continued generosity and every prayerful wish, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito Bishop of Palm Beach

Scam Warning Recently, several parishioners have reported receiving text messages and emails from scammers pretending to be Fr. George, requesting help obtaining iTunes gift cards and Google cards. The first email or text is a request for a “quick favor” and asks the recipient to email or text back as quickly as possible. If the recipient replies, “Fr. George” responds that he is very busy and needs help getting iTunes gift cards or Google cards for a cancer patient (or for another charity or cause.)

First and foremost, please know that neither Fr. George, Fr. Daniel nor anyone else at the Parish Office (nor any other legitimate organization) will ever request donations via iTunes or other gift cards, money orders, or wire transfers.

This scam, and others like it, have targeted churches and other nonprofits nationwide, and several area parishes have recently been hit. The emails are not being sent from an actual Parish email account – our systems have not been “hacked.” They are sent from newly created public email accounts that are designed to look similar to a Parish email account. Fr. George also has not changed his phone number therefore be weary of any texts from him from an unknown number. If you receive such an e-mail or text, DO NOT REPLY and please immediately delete the email or text message.

Sacramental Outreach Ministry

“Whatever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.”

The Sacramental Outreach Ministry is in need of new members who love the Holy Eucharist. As SOM’s we are entrusted and privileged to bring the “living” Christ (Holy Communion) into the lives of those who can no longer attend Mass. This is a beautiful and fulfilling away to share your faith with our parish community

while serving the Lord. If you believe that GOD is calling you to be of service in a very special and extra-ordinary

way or you have questions, please contact Charles or Angela Martignetti at 470-313-1650,

470-313-1651 or at 772-489-9257

“GOD blesses those who have found their ministry.” This may be yours!

Do You Feel Called to Serve?

We currently are in need of Lectors and Eucharist Ministers at the 5:00pm Mass.

If you would are interested please call Mike & Ronda Morse. Their contact information is located on page 2 under “Lector & Eucharistic Ministry.”

St. Anastasia NET Team 16

These 9 months here in Fort Pierce have flown by for each of us and it truly has been a year we will never forget. Looking back at the blessings God has overflowed into our lives leaves us in awe and wonder of his provision in this year and in the days to come! One of the many blessings from this year is the support that this community has shown to each of us. Through allowing us to live within your homes or through the great desire you have to constantly feed us or by your words of encouragement or just by the way you simply live your Catholic faith so boldly, you have only brought us closer to God through your generous hearts which we've gotten to encounter here on a daily basis. Having your support pushes the progress of our ministry miles more than we could ever do if it were just us 8 Netters! As individuals we all have come to grow this year and can say we are not the same person we were when we first arrived here in Fort Pierce. We'd love to share with you the ways God has allowed us to become a greater version ofourselves throughout this year.
