MISSION STATEMENT Nourished by the Eucharist, inspired by the shared celebration of the Gospel, and committed to life long faith formation, our bilingual and bicultural Catholic parish of Deaf and Hearing persons responds to the needs of a wider, diverse community. Side by side, we share the light of Christ as we welcome, shelter, and serve without judgment, promoting peace and justice for all people.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Bishop David Ricken has issued guidelines for the Reception of Holy Communion on

Sundays beginning on Pentecost Sunday. Whereas Sunday masses in the Diocese of Green

Bay will continue to be closed to the public due to the COVID-19 concerns, provisions have

been made for churches to open on Sundays for small communion services for those who

desire to receive the Holy Eucharist. This provision is only temporary until a safe and healthy

return to the public celebration of Mass in our beautiful churches can be arranged.

Parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and St. John the Evangelist will be able to receive

Holy Communion at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday, May 31 and Most Holy Trinity

Sunday, June 7 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm. Please be advised that strict COVID-19 prevention

precautions will be in place and all will be expected to comply for everyone’s health and safety:

1. All will have their temperatures taken. (If you have a fever; do not attend)

2. All will be expected to wear face masks. (You cannot enter without one)

3. All will be expected to use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the church.

4. All will be expected to enter the church by means of the Cathedral Center entrance and

exit through the Monroe Street entrance, unless physically restricted from doing so.

5. There will be no chairs set up or access to pews.

6. You will be asked to exit the church immediately after the service has concluded.

Additionally, the following should not attend:

1. Those who are sick or showing symptoms of illness or cough.

2. The elderly or those suffering from chronic illnesses or low immunity.

3. Those who have been exposed to illness or advised to self-quarantine.

4. Those who fear getting sick or passing an illness to a vulnerable family member.

5. Those who feel they cannot adhere to the conditions listed above.

6. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been dispensed and no one is required

to attend a communion service.

For those planning on attending, we ask that you plan to arrive at the following times:

Parishioners with last names A – I may begin arriving at Noon.

Parishioners with last names J – R may begin arriving at 1:00pm.

Parishioners with last names S – Z may begin arriving at 2:00pm.

Those who choose to attend are encouraged to participate remotely in a Cathedral Mass by means

of livestream or Relevant Radio at 9:00am or with Bishop Ricken on WFRV-TV-5 at 10:30am. If such

participation is not possible, please pray a rosary or some other form of prayer in order to prepare for the

reception of Holy Communion.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Brian Belongia

Instructions for Sunday Communion Services at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral The Communion Service has been planned in a manner that allows us to get as many people into the

church as possible while still observing the 8 person per room limit while maintaining a 6-foot distance from

the others. In this manner, the amount of time spent waiting outside will be minimized, especially in case of

rain or chilly weather. It is estimated that it will take each group of 8 between 20 to 30 minutes from the time

your car is parked until the time you leave the parking lot after the service.

1. Please arrive according to the schedule on the previous page.

2. Enter Cathedral Parking off MADISON street only.

3. Upon entering the parking lot, follow the guidance of the attendants.

4. When parked, remain in your cars until an attendant directs you to go to the church in groups

of 8.

5. At the Cathedral Center entrance, your temperature will be taken. Bring your own mask to

wear inside the church.

6. Hand sanitizer will also be provided for all to use upon entering the Church, before

receiving Communion, and prior to exiting.

7. You will be invited into the Cathedral Center and led in prayer. There will be a box in order for

you to drop your weekly offering.

8. Once inside, groups of 8 will be escorted through 4 prayer stations; the final one will culminate

with the reception of Holy Communion.

9. When receiving Holy Communion, remove your mask and then put it back on afterward until

you have left the church.

10. The group will exit the Church by means of the Monroe Street Entrance.

11. You will be asked to return immediately to your vehicle and follow the direction of the

attendants as to exit the parking lot right either on Madison or Walnut.

Bishop Ricken Mass on Television Bishop Ricken will be celebrating Mass on Sunday at 10:30 AM on WFRV Channel 5. If you are not able to livestream Mass from Cathedral at 9:00 am, please tune to Channel 5 to watch Mass and then drive to Cathedral Between 12:00pm and 3:00 pm for a communion service after which you will be able to receive our Lord! Please see the procedure for the communion service above.

further notice.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that you are present in

the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into

my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least

spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself

wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen
