Area photographers capture a “Day In The Life” of Qualicum Beach
Over twenty local photographers set their camera lenses to capture a day in the community of Qualicum Beach. is event is based on the co ee table books about Canada, Australia, Hawaii, Japan, etc. that o er multiple photographic impressions recorded on a single day. TOSH asked a wide range of photographer, from well-known artists to hobbyists - to submit their top photos of Qualicum Beach. is was not the rst time for this event as two years ago TOSH chose the Summer Solstice, June 21, 2011 for the day on which the photographs would be taken.
As the rst day of summer it was a sig-ni cant day, and, yet, as another Tuesday in Qualicum Beach it was not a particularly signi cant day. e photographers enjoyed the challenge and the visitors to the exhibi-tion enjoyed the creative photography de-picting our picturesque town.
e photographers all wanted to do it again and as 2012 was a year of special celebration for the Qualicum Beach community, it was decided to feature the town at play. e date of July 28, 2012 was chosen because it would be one the busiest days in Qualicum Beach with town enjoying the St. Mark’s Fair, e Old School House Arts Centre celebration for the school house building’s 100th Birthday and the Grand Prix d’Art painting race.
e town woke up early to set up the events and partied late into the evening on the green behind TOSH. e event was commemorated with an exhibition of photographs taken on that exciting day.
e photographs were exhibited and for sale at e Old School House Arts Centre ear-lier this year and if you see one you in this photo essay you would like to purchase please contact the art centre.
