I found the following online article, describing the homily Pope Francis gave dur-ing a Mass on May 24th. I encourage you to look around the OSV website and subscribe to daily or weekly emails about various topics. In his homily at daily Mass May 24 at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis discussed the journey to holiness as a path marked by courage, hope and reliance on God’s grace. "Walk in the presence of God without reproach." That’s how Pope Francis says we can journey towards holiness. During the Homily at Mass at Santa Marta Tuesday, the Pope said that for this commitment to succeed, Christians must be able to hope with courage, open themselves up to discussion, and freely welcome God's grace. Holiness cannot be bought. Neither can it be earned by human strength. No, "the simple holiness of all Christians," "ours – the kind we are called to every day," says the Pope, can only be attained with the help of four essential elements: cour-age, hope, grace, and conversion. Taking the liturgical excerpt from the First Letter of St. Peter, which he called a "small treatise on holiness," Pope Francis said holiness means “to walk in the presence of God without reproach:" "Holiness is a journey; holiness cannot be bought. It can’t be sold. It cannot be given away. Holiness is a journey to God's presence that I must make: no one else can do it in my name. I can pray for someone to be holy, but he’s the one who has to work towards [holiness], not me. Walk in God's presence, in an impec-cable way.” Read more at: https://www.osv.com/OSVNewsweekly/

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo
My Dear Parishioners,
This is a very special weekend; we are celebrating our annual Corpus Christi Eucharistic Proces-
sion.
Since childhood, so many of us Southsiders recall the power and the impact that this procession has
had on our minds and hearts. To witness the gathering of hundreds of faith-filled people, singing
the praises of the Lord, walking some of the streets around the parish is awesome. Eucharistic Ben-
ediction and prayers offered at the various stops along the way highlight the truth that Jesus is with us—not just in the
church building—but leading us along the highways of life.
I want to thank all who have planned and worked for the success of the procession this year—the organizing team, the song-
sters, the servers and M.C.’s, to those who prepared the beautiful altars at the stations, our Hispanic band and dancers—God
Bless and reward you all. A special thank you to those who prepared and help serve our meal following the procession.
I praise God—ahead of time—for the beautiful day—in all ways.
O Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament—bless and protect our parish. Amen.
Congratulations to our 2016 Pillars of the Parish! They are: Dominic & Carolyn Bonanno, Larry & Colleen Breheny, Ray
Holman, Jeanne Knight, Sister Joanne Mauro, Lucille Quinn, Mary Quinn, Therese Riordan, Helene Wilson.
Have a Blessed week,
