A Word From Our Pastor

THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

Today the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord Jesus into

heaven; his physical departure from his followers. In spite of his physical absence, Jesus in today’s gospel reading makes it very clear that He will be with his Apostles always, until the end of the age. Even though, we celebrate today Jesus’ departure from his disciples; we know that he is very much alive and present in the life of his followers through his Holy Spirit.

Just before Jesus ascends to his Father, He commissions his disciples to do three things: first, to make disciples for Him from all nations. Secondly, to baptize the new believers in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, to teach them to observe all that He had commanded them.

This is our mission today as Jesus’ disciples; as Pope Paul VI said so eloquently, “The Church exists to evangelize”. My brothers and sisters, may we be true witnesses of the Risen Lord, by the way we are living “our witness” as worthy Christians in mission to bring new believers to the Church.

Blessings, Fr. Quesnel

VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE PROGRAM This program encourages families to pray regularly for vocations to priesthood and consecrated life. Each week a family will receive the Vocation Chalice at Mass and take it home with a promise to “pray for vocations” during that week. The family will place the chalice in a prominent place in their home and will

gather together each day to pray, asking God to help raise awareness for Vocations in our parish. Prayers booklets will be given to the family with a different prayer for each day. At the end of the week, the family will bring the chalice back to church so the next family could take it home. We hope that through prayer, our parish may become a source of vocations to serve the diocese and the Church. If you are interested, please see Father Nobert or come to the sacristy after Mass to register.

PARISH NURSE

Nursing, Healing, and Health

The Hurricane Season is June 1-November 30, 2017. We are reminding parishioners to check and see if they need to pre-register for a Special Care Shelter, especially if they need oxygen, nebulizer treatments, or on a ventilator. The contact number for the Special Needs Coordinator is (561) 712-6400. Please note that you will need to make other arrangements for your pets. It is important to check and see if you live in an evacuation area, and where the emergency shelters are located. It is recommended that parishioners stock up at least a 2 weeks supply of prescription medications, baby food, formula, diapers, etc., bottled water, toilet paper, manual can opener, canned foods, dried foods, ice, paper towels, plates, cups, utensils, trash bags, pet food, portable radio, flashlight, clock, extra batteries, hand sanitizer, tools, nails, duct tape, FULLY charged cell phone, first aid kit, secure important papers and ID, keep extra cash, and clothing on hand. We thank the Lord for His protection in past hurricane seasons, and pray that He will watch over us and protect us this hurricane season as well! “When the just cry out, the Lord hears and rescues them from all distress.” Psalm 34: 18.

JEZU MONTE NAN SYÈL Jodi-a se Fèt Lasansyon sa vle di Jezi Granmèt la monte nan syèl; fizikman Granmèt la pa prezan ankò nan mitan patizan L yo. Malgre absans fizik sa a, JeziKri Granmèt la nan levanjil jodi-a ap fè patizan L yo konnen: “Mwen menm, mwen ak nou toulèjou, jouk tan an fin rive nan bout li”.
